{Recap} ~ The year 2007

Like every year I will blabber a bit about this whole year. Usually I do this on the 30th, but I don´t have time then, so I´m going to do it now (^-^')

Anyway let´s start (not very interesting, so feel free to ignore )

Year 2007

This year was quite interesting. A lot of first-times for me this year. NOOO! Not what you think now, perverts!! ;P
I graduated from university for the first time .. okay, okay, joking XD
This was the first time I traveled far away and OUT of Europe. It was my first time in a plane. It was my first time in Japan ^____^ Well, if that isn´t something, then I don´t know. This alone was enough to make 2007 a great year.
I often say that 2007 was/is the Japan year in so many ways. SO many people I know or got to know went to Japan this year, it´S CRAZY!!!
More first-times: I ate a lot of stuff (in Japan, but also here in Germany) I´ve never eaten before, I´ve started to make bentos (Japanese lunchboxes) and fell totally in love with Japanese food.
I also fell for only ONE idol for the first time in my life (Ikuta Toma) (*___*) ... usually I´m never only going after ONE guy/character ... so this was really a surprise (*___*) LOVE YOU TOMA! XDD
For the first time I did karaoke and that in JAPAN! Yay ^-^;
For the first time I drank Calpis and fell in love with it XD
I bought doujinshis for the first time in my life (^^''')
I never had so many mosquito bites in my life as in this year during my stay in Japan (T____T) *ouch*
I got to know TONS of new + interesting people (lj + rl)

This year was also special because of my diploma thesis. Basically you sit in your room and work all of the time and that for more than half a year. Your social life = zero, but it was quite an experience nevertheless.
A loong "journey" has ended. I finally finished my education after almost 27years (okay, okay 21 years ^^) - feels great! Hopefully no more exams any time soon! YAY (^3^)

I spent a great time with Yumi-chan here in Germany and was a bit sad when she left in February. I was very happy to meet her and her family again in Japan in September.
I also met some of my female Japanese e-mail pals in Japan - we had a great time.

I think those were my highlights *nods*

The weather was also very strange this year here in Germany and I´m pretty sure it´ll get even stranger next year *sigh*
.... not to mention the horrible worm attack

Right now

Right now I´m very busy, which sucks, because isn´t this time of the year supposed to be quite ... calm and relaxing?! (T__T)
Well, it can´t be helped. I´m busy with my part-time jobs and will (hopefully?!) be even more busy the next 2 months.
My brain is absorbing any information it can find about living and working in Japan right now and WOAH! There´s so much info ... my brain´s not ready for that yet XD
There are also so many options that I´m not sure what exactly I wanna do (and what I actually CAN do).
Well it´s 99,9% certain that I will go to Japan with the working holiday visa (prolly end of March 2008), but HOW is not sure yet.
I mean I´m trying to find work while I`m still here in Germany which is not impossible, but needs a lot of searching and applying and ... TIME (T___T) .....
If I really can find a full-time job BEFORE I go, there´s a chance that the company will pay for my flight and get me an appartment, so that would be a great plus.
Not so good is that I´m not sure if I really wanna do that. Usually you sign up for 1 year then and IF .. I say IF I really don´t like it then I still have to stay and work 1 year in Japan whereas I´m much more free if I just go without already having work and just try out different part-time jobs.

The standard job for foreigners is of course: (assistant) language teacher (almost only English).
And it´s really funny ... most companies and schools ONLY look for NATIVE-SPEAKERS! Some don´t even care if you have any qualifications, teaching experience or a degree! The only condition is that you´re A NATIVE-SPEAKER!!! *lolz* .... that´s really ridiculous.
I mean I´m almost fluent, right? And I don´t have an accent, because we´re taught "standard" English here in Germany - of course there are tons of things a native-speaker can do better than me .. and I´m also aware of the fact that I do pronounce some words wrong ... but still ... NO QUALIFICATIONS AT ALL??? What kind of school is that?
Just one example @ gaijinpot.

Well, I keep looking for jobs (I already have saved like 234234234234 links that´ll help me XD) and keep you guys up to date, so stay tuned XDDDD
And please don´t be mad at me when I´m not around too much and I don´t comment to your entries - I´ll try my best though! (;o;)

Year 2008 (?)

This year will definitely be a busy one and one with a LOT of changes so or so. It doesn´t matter if I go to Japan or not, I just graduated from university, so it´s only natural that a lot of changes will happen now.
I´m a bit anxious about what will happen, but am looking forward to it at the same time - I guess this is normal.
I wonder if 2008 will become my personal Japan year - wish me luck ;P
Apart from that I´m not really expecting anything special from 2008.
My hopes are that I´m able to stay and work in Japan, that I´ll like it, that I can eat the yummiest food in the whole wide world again and that I can see the sakura in full bloom (*____*)V

I guess that´s all I have to say right now XD

What about you guys? And how will you spend New Year´s Eve this year? Do you do anything special in your country on that day? Any rituals, any special food? (yes, yes food question again XD I´m horrible, nee? ;P)

Oh, and before I forget (I do this every year):

*lol* There´s not really much change compared to last year! XDDDD at least not in the top positions.
[livejournal.com profile] hesaki congrats again! XDDD
(Well, okay I have to admit that we had an entry here only for the 2 of us where we discussed everything about our Japan journey before we went, so ... no wonder she´s top commenter ;P)
Congrats to #2 [livejournal.com profile] mahochan1 as well (^3^) I hope you´re fine although you´re so busy right now!
Yay! I knew [livejournal.com profile] chatiel was a stalker!! ;P
#4 goes to [livejournal.com profile] bf_nightingale who´s always helped me out a lot (*__*) Thanks hun (Perhaps we can meet this year in Japan, so or so! ^-^V)
Haha! ^^ #5 is still [livejournal.com profile] anime_junkie18, now known as [livejournal.com profile] lostxxheaven. You haven´t been around much lately, miss you!
#6 goes to another beloved stalker: [livejournal.com profile] linaaa! Congrats and love you too, hun!
The prolly weirdest person ;P ever (apart from Daruma in Akiba@Deep XD) holds place #7!
WOAH! Place 8 for somone who hasn´t been on my f-list for sooo long (compared to the others). Congrats to you [livejournal.com profile] andou_chan! (^-^) Let´s blabber even more (about food XD) in the future!
#9 is my bento loving friend [livejournal.com profile] amvn! YAAY!! Congrats, honey!! (^3^) I always enjoy your comments + entries a lot!
Last, but not least #10: [livejournal.com profile] supajo! SUPAJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO darling! ;o; Your not around so much lately, are you??!!! I miss you, but I enjoy your photos a lot! ^^

....... actually I wanted to stop here, but I decided to say something to the next five "places" as well (^^*)

#11: [livejournal.com profile] pearlsphere: Ohhhhhh, I enjoy fangirling with you sooo much, I hope we can continue this even more from now on! (*___*)V
*ignores #12* [livejournal.com profile] mamoritai - Near lovers should not be listed in such a ranking to begin with!!!!! *lol* XD ... apart from the fact (that I totally can´t understand) that you love Near you´re really fun to chat and blabber with! (^3^) And I love your graphic skills!
[livejournal.com profile] meister_quitte managed to score quite high as well - #13. You were somehow away for quite a while from lj weren´t you? But I´m glad that you love Japan just as much as I do and if you ever decide to come with me on that working holiday trip, feel free to do so!! ^^
#14 is [livejournal.com profile] _usotsuki_: Another relatively new friend who managed to score that high nevertheless. We just fangirl too much I guess? I totally LOVE your photographing skills ;o; .. GIVE THEM TO ME!
So, but now the final one! ^-^; .... The lucky(?!) #15 goes to [livejournal.com profile] kare_chan. You weren´t around too much lately as well, but I guess that´s because of Christmas and holidays? I hope you can use that time to read tons of books ^-^/ Hope to hear from you soon again!

... YEAH! That´s all. WHAT? Hey, you don´t expect me to write something about ALL 100 persons, do you?

[random thought] Kyousuke (Hungry Heart) has to be Ichigo´s (Bleach) twin brother *nods nods* [/random thought]
Hmmm, guess I overload my brain with more Japan related info now *runs away*

[identity profile] yukikyo.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha. I've been to that job site! Makes me want to go to Japan. At least us [native?] english speakers will have plenty of jobs!
Now to learn Japanese in 4ish years.

[identity profile] ravanna.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
<3

[identity profile] dr-crgirl.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm 28...lol. I actually didn't expect to be on the list, well, actually I expected to be like 50 or soemthing.

a very fun year, yes!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_usotsuki_/ 2007-12-27 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)

Ps: Ich bin nich so talentiert wie du denkst, das is WIRKLICH die Cam ;___;

[identity profile] pandanroll.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I heard one article about how bad it is to be a language teacher in Japan. Maybe because he went to that infamous place (I can't remember what the name was >_<;) Wow, a native speaker? I guess I've got this one in the bag. :DD I'm sure they'll consider you at least... you seem to be very fluent in English anyway. ;)

Haha, I'm glad I did well to get in the Top 15. :D Which means you've not seen the last of me (and Near). :B *evil*

[identity profile] mhizxkyloz.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had added you earlier I could of been in the top few :K.
Hahaha you had that rant about Native Japanese,

Why don't you record yourself and send it to me and let me try?

Did I mention my dad went to Germany for 2years :) and knew fluent German, Dutch whatevers? xD

This year was my first time going to Vietnam x) siiigh

[identity profile] chibi-bijutsu.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope that I'll be able to do the same. Get out of the US and visit Japan! :D

I never had so many mosquito bites in my life as in this year during my stay in Japan (T____T) *ouch*
XDD

WOW CAN I WORK IN JAPAN? XD Even if I'm a native speak I think you speak better English then me! :o

It took me awhile to find where I was~ XDD

[identity profile] quinnsan.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha I'm number 19~ Its funny because thats how old I'll be turning in February~ xDDD

....Sorry my brain is like not focused enough for commenting right now. >< I'm kind of in the process of convincing my mom to take my computer to get a new power supply..which means no computer for a few days, but its really needed so its soooo worth it. So hopefully it works out. >

[identity profile] linaaa.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh hey I didn't do that bad on comments. ^^ <33

[identity profile] thinking-lotus.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
oh look, I'm in the top 2/3! I'll try to comment more and get higher.

I have read before that they only want native speakers to teach English. They don't want Japanese people who speak english and are trained to teach it, just native speakers! Although the japanese-american and chinese-american people I know who went on the JET program did fine (but I guess they all teach kids in regular schools).

Isn't the other option to do translation? But I'm sure that's even harder.

Your written English seems excellent to me!

[identity profile] glamorousdreams.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I'm embrassed not to even be on the list. I feel soo mean, I barely post. it shows!

I need to post more, communicate. I'm a quite person or something recently.

But yeah~ I'm sorry I don't really post(I don't really post journal entries myself either). i'm gonna do my best to talk more from now on!

But your 2007 year seems coolio~ I wish mines was that exciting and new!

I wish you luck for 2008!

[identity profile] nis-chan.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
aw it was a great year for you!! I hope 2008 is too <3

CALPIS IS SO GOOD :DD

[identity profile] saa-ri.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
woah ,, I'm #35..nyahahaha \(>__<)/

wow what a great year for you..I'm sure 2008 will be great as well..you're so enthusiastic about life no wonder you're so blessed.

Oh and you might want to check this out..click here (http://www.dannychoo.com/all/eng/japan/).. dannychoo.com .. he's got a lot of info about japan, living in japan..and anything japan..

[identity profile] karro.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
WHAT THE HELL XD Play nice! I'm #7?! ... do I really comment that much =_=? Considering I've only been stalking you since... aflbafhl since when XD?

Tonikaku~! I hope you have a great time in 2008, too, and that it really becomes your Japan year!

[identity profile] pixelsky.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
ahhhh i feel so bad that i stole Toma from you in the blog crew thing o_o;; *gives back* you can have him hehe ♥

[identity profile] x-reggg.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
i always think working in an international school is the best. you get good pay/good benefits, potentially speak your native language and don't have to know the native language (okay, that's just me XD)

but then the problem is the lack of a degree in education XD

[identity profile] koyachii.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Hello! I hope that you will finally get some time to yourself to spend relaxing.
I also hope that you will get to see lovely Japan again. I'm so in love with this country, yet I've never been there once in my life. It is a dream of mine to visit (maybe even live) there and you're so lucky to get to go. I don't blame you for wanting to go again. I would too! xD

I will probably just sleep on New Year's. We aren't rich or anything and I don't have any friends I could go celebrate with, but...the new year will come regardless of what I do. ^^

xD You make so many great entries, I could not help but comment on some of them. :) I will continue to comment because you're so cool! (And a Vegeta fan on top of it!)

[identity profile] mahochan1.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Gambatte on your getting a job in Japan! ^_^

And thank you for the congrats, I have a lot of catching up to [livejournal.com profile] hesaki to do, lol! ^^

*waves to [livejournal.com profile] hesaki*

Also, I am fine, thank you for your well wishes! ♥ *hugs hugs* :D :D

[identity profile] nirmanakaya.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I am the list, I feels so ashamed for just posting thank you all the time. I really love your journal. I really would like to talk more to you. You are such cool person. Though, I do blame you for getting addicted to ikuta toma and wanting to go to japan.
Danke Shöne, forgive my german.

[identity profile] kare-chan.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
Hi. ^^

Viel halt. XD
Und Weihnachten bei Oma war... sagen wir mal so: vorher war unser Kühlschrank so gut wie leer. Momentan haben wir genug Wurst und Käse um damit locker bis ins nächste Jahr zu reichen. ^_^;;

sldfkgjkl I'm #98? *lowers her head in shame* well, I still like to think we've gotten to know each other a little bit better these past couple of months. :D It looks like 2007 was a really amazing year for you (Japan! New friends! Toma! JAPAN! XDD) and 2008 looks promising. Best of luck with a career in Japan! If I could speak Japanese I'd go teach english in a second, no doubt about it. ^^

Oh, well, in America on New Years Eve we usually party and drink and stuff. Nothing is really done on New Years day. Except maybe more shopping. America is all about the sales...holidays are just another excuse to spend more money. ^^;

[identity profile] shrew-ish.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
wow~
you have that many people who love you~
and the comment counts are amazing...

LOL! i'm at the bottom part~ *hides*

those graphics are seriously too cute~
and they just kept growing!

GOOD LUCK on your hopefully personal Japan year~

[identity profile] andou-.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] eclair.livejournal.com 2007-12-28 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope this year would be a really good one for you, wherever you may be :)

As for it being a calm time of the year, it's not the case in the Philippines because we tend to have a lot of parties: among officemates, old friends, family, etc. As for rituals, it's basically having Christmas dinner on Christmas eve and New Year's dinner on December 31. Some of the food that "must" be on the table on New Year's Eve includes the following: quezo de bola (round cheese - I think it's some kind of really hard cheese), round fruits and basically that's it. Fireworks are a must too!

I hope that your holidays would be great =) I am sorta looking forward to cooking some pasta and salad for New Year's eve.
