WTF!!! It's just TOO much, you know???!!!!
It's past midnight now.
I'm so exhausted and yet I'm not sure if I'll be able to sleep.

Apart from all the crap that's going on at work right now .... plus all the busy times ... there's a typhoon coming now!
I barely managed to ride my bike home.

I had my balcony door open because I didn't know there would be a typhoon.
I was worried the whole time.

When I finally came home and turned on the light.....

... I saw a cockroach quickly disappearing behind some boxes.

WTF????!!!!

It's the first roach I've ever seen in my life.
They are quite rare in Germany.
And it wasn't too long ago that THAT HAPPENED!!!

After coming home from work at around 22:15pm, it took me until 22:45pm until I finally managed to "get" it.
I had no idea they were so fast!!

I tried to hit it a few times, but no chance. Finally it hid in a huge teabag box and that's when I grabbed the box and put it outside on my balcony!
I hit against the box a few times to make sure the roach was in there and then closed my balcony door.

I have NO idea how that thing came into my apartment!!!
I have NO idea for how long it has already been here!!! And if there are more!! I doubt it, though.
I always come home at night (when it's dark) and when I turn on the light, I might be still be able to see them disappear quickly or at least HEAR them.
As you know my apartment is small ..... actually it's only ONE ROOM!! The kitchen and my bedroom and ... my bathroom ... it's all in ONE ROOM!!!!
I probably would have realized earlier if I had them for a long time??!!!

Now .... as I've never seen one, I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!!!!
It's so late now and I'm sooo tired and exhausted. I hope I'll be able to sleep.
As soon as I have time = this weekend, I'll empty all my closets and shelfs and move them and try to clean everywhere I can reach.
There are some spots I can't reach no matter what, though.

But what I'm REALLY worried about is my food!!!!
I have no idea what roaches can do and can reach?!
Do I have to throw away everything that was not in the fridge? Can they eat through plastic packages like noodle packages or cereal packages???

WHAT SHALL I DOOOOO??????????????????????????????????????? HELP!!!!

I still had roach traps luckily. I never used them, because I thought they might just attract them (if you don't have them).
But now I've spread them throughout my room. I hope they're not dangerous for me, but I think they have to eat it in order to be killed, so as long as I don't eat the traps I should be safe??!!

That's what I'm using right now. Do you have any better ideas?

I also tried to kill the monster with an insect spray, but it didn't work!! Only on me, I don't feel well now, but luckily I only used a little bit and turned on the air conditioner afterwards.

What about their eggs? Is there any way to find them???

So, I know quite a lot of you who live in Japan already had problems with those little monsters here. Any tips?
Anybody else who can help me??????

I'm trying to reasearch in the internet as well, but seriously I am sooooooo tired, I really should go to bed and try to sleep for now.

Seriously what's going on lately?? Gimme a break!!!!

they aren't really as bad as you might think actually. And they're not as rare over here as you might think either :P they usually live in large kitchens, especially those of restaurants and such. Why do you think we have all this food inspection over here in Europe? hhahaha

As for getting rid of them, it depends on how bad you can cope with them I think. Even though you might think you never had them you've always had them. This is just the first time you actually saw one I guess. But the best thing is to basically spray your room down every half year or so (i'm not sure) and really spray a lot. After which you just leave your house for a while, because otherwise you will feel sick. Those insect sprays shouldn't be used when you are going to use the space afterwards in the first place, so it's not really a surprise you didn't feel well after you used it.

I'm not very experienced with insect extermination though, I'm just telling you what they do in Indonesia, so that probably goes for Japan and the rest of Asia as well.

There was this one experience when I was very little where I had to spend a night on a very old dingy boat because the trip was so long. But anyway, on that boat I got to sleep in the "cabin" and there were so many roaches there that the walls were basically moving. When I think back to it, it sort of seems astonishing, but at the time I wasn't scared at all :S the boat sort of looked like this: http://hackingfamily.com/images/MalayFishingBoat4_CM.jpg

Well, as I don't live in a large kitchen, I don't care!! XD
I've never seen one and ..... they're gross! What worries me so much is that their excrements hold dangerous bacteria, so if there's something in my food, this might get quite ...... dangerous ....

EWWWWWW!!!!! Gross story ;o;

yeah i guess they sort of look scary eh hahaha

it would've been better if they weren't brown or red but shiny green or something. And yeah roachcrap can be dangerous for your health. But that's not always the case. They're probably as dangerous for your food/health as flies, flies sort of puke on your food and their puke is also quite bacterial in many cases.

So I guess that your main priority is just to regularly check your food and make sure everything is sealed and stuff, and stored in places that are easily reached for you. It's better for your health in general to do so anyway.

What are you going to do about the cockroaches anyway, there have been quite a few tips from other commenters too?

GAH!! I don't wanna imagine shiny green cockroaches. How about bright pink? You still can see them easily and maybe that makes them less scary? XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I actually almost never saw flies here. They seem to be quite rare. In my home town in Germany my main hobby in summer was killing flies at first hit XDDDDDDDDDDDD

That's right. I got a lot of useful tips.
I went shopping today before work and bought a good spray esecially against cockroaches (although I do not intend to use it, but ..... well .. just in case, right?), sticky traps, alcoholic cleaning utensils, airtight containers for my food etc.
Tomorrow I'll clean my WHOLE apartment thoroughly .... also moving everything I can move by myself and clean behind cupboards etc.
Although I really don't feel like wasting my weekend for such a thing, but it's necessary ... after that it'll make me feel better, I guess ^^;
