[Japan Travel]: Kawaguchiko - Day 3

I need to keep my travel entries coming, because in less than 2 months I will be travelling through Japan again as it's spring vacation!!! I should start planning soon! That also means that by then I should have finished posting all my winter vacation photos, right?!
Also, I'm working on something else right now which I will hopefully finish in a few days so that I can show it to you guys.
Anyways, here we go!~

Kawaguchiko - Day 3 (December 31st 2010):

I wanted to leave quite early for Tokyo on the 31st! I also wanted to meet [ profile] calpis37 and [ profile] shelketuesti there! After that I had to leave for Saitama. Quite a busy schedule.

What will the weather be like today?! )

Mt. Fuji photogasm!~ )

Goodbye, Adieu, Auf Wiedersehen!~ )

Yesterday was setsubun! One of my favorite special days in Japan, but it's not a national holiday! It was the first time I didn't "celebrate" it, though, as I was all alone in my apartment the whole time

Alright, that's all for today.
Thanks for reading

[Japan Travel]: Winter 2008/2009: Mt. Fuji and more!

Here's now finally the surprise I kept talking about! Some of you might remember that during my winter vacation a few years ago my memory card was broken and I lost tons of photos especially the great ones I was able to take of Mt. Fuji out of the Shinkansen back then.
After my summer vacation while trying to restore something else I was able to restore those OLD photos!!! I couldn't believe my luck! :D
Now finally ... almost 2 years later I present you the lost photos!!! These are quite random and are mostly of my days in Tokyo and the first day in Aizu-Wakamatsu (previous photos that didn't get lost can be found here).

Probably most of you don't remember what happened during my winter vacation 2 years ago XD So ... uhm ... I'll try to keep the explanations short anyways XD

I spend a few days in and around Tokyo before the New Year.

more Mt. Fuji awesomeness )

And that's it. I hope you are not too disappointed that the surprise was something like this?!

Alright. There are still some entries that need to be posted in the next few days.
See you again then

[Japan]: Happy White Day! ❤
Happy White Day!!!

Today was "White Day" in Japan. It's exactly one month after Valentine's Day and it's the day when all the girls and women get something from the guys they gave something to on VD

Here's what I got:

For more click here, but if you don't hurry up I'll have eaten all the choco pralines!!! XD )

People who read my Twitter might already know: I FINALLY watched Arashi's 最後の約束 ("Saigo no yakusoku" / The last promise) yesterday night (*__*)v
It was muuuuch better than I expected it to be. Although I'm a huge Jun fan, I still think he's not the best actor out of the 5, but he's so cool and cute and made me squee a few times in this drama special again (*__*)
I hade taken quite a few screencaps (mainly of Jun XD), but for some reason my computer decided to fuck up, so I had to get some from here (<- you might not wanna click if you haven't seen the movie/special yet, spoilers ahead!).
I modified the screencaps a bit (I still love playing with colors and it seems I didn't forgot how to yet...), no spoilers, so don't worry:

Okay, that's all for tonight.
And now hit me so that I will finally go back to my Japanese studies which I have been neglecting all March long so far .......

[Japan]: Ningen Shikaku photobook, VDay, cellphone and more!♬
It's very rare that I post on a working day, but I just HAVE to! (*___*)v
(although I will have to hurry up like hell later on in order to not be too late for work (^-^')> ....)

Monday was a busy day, but at least I was able to update my gaijincard (you have to do that after renewing/updating your visa). Now my gaijincard will expire (2012) before my visa (2013)!!! XD I never thought that would happen XD
I also went to the hospital after being sick for 3,5 weeks now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They couldn't really help me - I just got the usual ewwwy powder medicine. Well, I had to go to the hospital for a different reason anyway, so it was okay.
AND I managed to go to Softbank and ask them about my contract (all ALONE) and I understood everything. I was waiting for one of my coworkers to go with me in case I need a translator, but they kept saying they had no time, so I figured I should go before my contract really expires XD

Should I get this phone or not???!!!! )

In other news: I got the "Ningen Shikaku" photobook today!!! (*_________________*)v
KYAH!! It's full of Toma-kun! <3 There hasn't been any Toma photobooks yet, probably because he has yet to have his debut. Of course he was in the Hanakimi photobook, but that was not really TOMA ONLY, this time IT IS!!!! (almost!)
It's only 1800yen and I got it even cheaper because I could use my Amazon points XDDDD

Some hot and cute photos here! )

VD is coming!!! <333 )

That's all!
Gotta get ready for work now.

[Japan Travel]: Fukuoka Day 1 + 2
Hallou~ (;・∀・)/~

This might be one of the shortest "travel entries" I've ever made and it's even TWO days!!! (^-^')>
I left Beppu on the 31st (December) in the morning to go to Fukuoka where I met with one of my Japanese coworkers. She invited me to come over and celebrate "omisoka" (Japanese New Year's Eve) with her and her family as she thought it's too sad and lonely if I'm all by myself.
In Japan, the 31st is a very calm day that you're supposed to spend with your family (more like our Western Christmas).

We met at Hakata Station (please remember that you have to look for "Hakata Station" when going to Fukuoka by Shinkansen etc.) - there is no "Fukuoka" or "Shin-Fukuoka" station XDDDD
We decided to walk around in Fukuoka a little bit, go shopping etc.

Fukuoka - Day 1+2 (December 31st, 2009 + January 1st, 2010):

A lot of yummie food this time (*_*)v )

Toma-kuuuu~uun!!!! *lol* XD )

After that they brought me to Hakata Station and I left for Kobe where I arrived at night.
Thus, next will be Kobe already. Hope you're looking forward to it (*_*)

Happy Valentine's Day (^-^)/
Hey f-list!
Phew, I just made it in time! Only a few more minutes until Valentine's Day is over here in Japan.
How was your Valentine's Day? What kind of customs or habits do you have in your country?
As most of you might know Valentine's Day is the day in Japan where the girls give (often self-made) chocolate to the boys/men they like.
Although I don't have anybody right now, I still handed out 4 Valentine's chocolate packages XD

It's called "giri choco" . It's "obligatory chocolate" which you give to your male coworkers etc.
As you can see I had to buy four of them (luckily we are more women than men at work ;P)
As much as I loved Valentine's day in manga/anime and dramas, being here and seeing it with my own eyes, it's just a huge commercial thing. It's rather annoying.
You have to spend money and time just to get your coworkers chocolate although you don't even want to do it. "Giri choco" is soooo typical Japanese!
I prefer giving things to people when *I* want to and not when a day like today or some customs tell me to do so.

So ... and somehow I wanted to do something special for Valentine's Day and thus I just came home from work and tried to translate a Valentine's Day related doujinshi.
It's my first scanlation EVER and I didn't scan / translate everything, because I just didn't have enough time (plus I wanted to post this before midnight ^^; ....)
It was interesting. I can remember that last year around that time I needed about 1 hour to translate ONE page!! This time the translation was not so much a problem. The editing and stuff took forever.
Plus I just couldn't find a good font.
I'll probably never become a doujinshi translating whore, although I'd love to, but it's too time-consuming, so right now I can't do it even if I want to.
The translations might be off sometimes, but I tried my best XD
I hope you can enjoy it even if you're NOT a fan of the series (which is Katekyou Hitman Reborn).

P.S.: The circle is Ririadoll. They're famous for their ... uhm .... hentai-like drawings. I tired to pick rather harmless pics, but it's still NOT WORKSAFE!!! So you might want to skip this part ^^;

kufufufu~ )

That's all for today.
I'm still sick (went to a doctor finally) and should get some rest soon.

Setsubun (節分), Risshun (立春), bean throwing day: February 3rd

Hello f-list,

let's not talk about the latest horror stories that are going on in my life now.
In this entry I just want to talk about the "bean throwing day" in Japan which was 2 days ago on February 3rd.

First of all that day is not a national holiday. But what exactly happens on that day?
You'll see Japanese people throwing beans out of their doors and windows or at somebody wearing a demon's mask while shouting some Japanese words.
Weird? Well ... maybe, but it's also a lot of fun.

We did it at my school, too. We didn't have anybody to perform as demon, so we just went to every single window and door, opened it and threw out a bunch of roasted soybeans (irimame: 炒り豆) while shouting "oni ha soto!" (鬼は外! Demons out!). Then you also throw a bunch of beans inside the room and shout "fuku ha uchi!" (福は内!: Luck in!). It was really a LOT of fun (and a good distraction for me).
After that you eat some roasted beans. The number is fixed, though. You have to eat the exact number of your current age (in my case 28 beans). While I started counting, it became kind of frustrating with "15+" .... if you really have to count until 28 you realize how old you actually are ;____________; .......

Also, on this day you eat makizushi (usually as dinner), but don't cut it. You have to eat the whole thing while facing a specific direction. This year it was north-east, I think. My coworker brought a compass and a small makizushi roll for me. She told me to eat it while facing the direction. You're not allowed to speak while doing so. This will bring you luck. I hope it's true. I really need luck right now.
