[Japan]: Christmas Time~

Hello everybody!~
Christmas is around the corner. Amazing how time flies!
People who follow this journal for quite some time might know that I had to work on Christmas the last few years, so no Christmas for me at all. Furthermore December is one of the busiest months at work as well.
Last year was especially horrible! (2009/12/23 //// 2008/12/26)

This year feels more like Christmas. I'm not exactly sure why.

I wish I had some Christmas songs!! ;o; )

A little bit early maybe, but:

Speaking of Christmas, I suppose most of you know how Japanese celebrate Christmas? How do you celebrate Christmas in your country? ^-^

Alright, that's all for now.
The med I'm taking right now makes me REALLY sleepy and I have difficulties staying awake. Well, it's already late anyways, so I guess that's okay.
I still have quite a few working days ahead of me, but nevertheless I wish everybody AWESOME HOLIDAYS!!!!!!

[Japan]: Autumn leaves and yummie drinks!~
Hello!~

As you know I'm super extremely hyper busy this month , so sorry for the lack of entries :/
Monday before work, I went to the hospital, shopping and also walked around a bit to take some photos of the autumn leaves around here. It was a busy day, but I also enjoyed it a lot
Unfortunately I only took my digital camera with me, which is why the quality of the photos is not sooooo good.
This is just a foretaste. I intend to go to some "interesting" place this month to take some (hopefully) nice autumn photos (still have no autumn photos of Japan in my collection apart from those I'm posting now).
Anyways here we go (but don't expect too much)~

Autumn photos ahead~ )

It was so much fun walking through so many bright colors (*__*)v I could have spent hours there!

Yummie drinks for winter!~ )

P.S.: Remember that I posted about having problems with my userpics on LJ? It seems that I'm not the only person with that problem. The LJ support center was flooded with the same screams for help. The userpics suddenly lost their keywords.
LJ support still hasn't reacted at all it seems. I still have the same problem and just no time to repair it myself, aka type new keywords for ALL my icons. So annoying!

Alright, that's all. Time for bed!
Stay tuned for more - hopefully soon!~

[Japan Food]: My month in food!~
Hey there!
I'm extremely busy this month as you all know.

So this will be a quite random and short entry.
I took photos of what I ate last month (of course not every day) to give you an idea about my unbalanced diet XD

Not so yummie food?!? ahead!~ )

And now two things that piss me off:

  • #1: What the fuck is suddenly wrong with the userpics here on LJ??? I only have these stupid numbers, I can't recognize which icon I'm gonna use. THIS SUCKS!!!! Do I have to type new keywords for all my icons now?? WHYYYY???!!!! Big fail! Or am I the only one having these problems?? :(

  • #2: The sale of my stuff is pissing me off. It's always been busy and I shouldn't have restarted it during such busy times, BUT this time it's like 90% of all people who "want" to buy something from me seem to make fun of me. Asking one thousand questions, asking for so many different options and in the end, they're not buying anything. Most of them are just saying that they don't have any money. Well, if you don't have any money what the fuck are you doing in a sales entry anyways??? STOP STEALING MY PRECIOUS TIME WILL YA???? I don't care if they read it, what they do is just ridiculous. I mean I can understand that there are some circumstances that might prevent you from buying something that you want sometimes, and that's not a big deal, but 90% of all possible buyers??? ARE YOU KIDDING MEEE???!!!! *sigh* :/ This sucks.

busy~ )

Anyways, that's all.
Gotta go back to my studies (or rather to bed soon).

[Japan]: If you were in Japan, what would you want to do??
Good evening!~ (or whatever time it is where you live)

I feel kind of good today. You might remember one of my last entries where I ranted about feeling down and not knowing what's wrong with me.
I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do from here on. Nothing is set yet at all.
Thinking too much about my future, especially jobwise, makes my head spin around. Thinking too much is not good either, I guess.

Anyways, back to the main topic.
While thinking about too many things lately, I realized that I can't really figure out anymore what I came here for. Or rather, what the things are I still want to do (because I think things changed since I first came here, my interests and priorities DEFINITELY changes since back then!!!!)
When you first come to Japan, you're so hyper and excited about everything and you do all the things you always wanted to do, but after some time things calm down and I think .... you partly forget WHY you came here and even stop doing the things you came here for originally. I'm no exception. I recently read through old entries. I posted so often and took photos of each and every tiny things. And the things I was crazy about back then, aren't really things I'm interested in (that much) anymore now!
I did quite a lot of things since coming here. Hey, I even climbed Mt. Fuji!!!! ;P
But I still feel like I'm missing out on many things and sometims it's difficult to find "the way back". I don't wanna have any regrets. I don't want to forget anything and then realize back home I didn't do this and that and now have no chance to do it or whatever.

That's why I thought it might be interesting to ask YOU what the things are you would like to do/see/experience if you came to Japan!!!!
Anything is fine, no matter how unimportant or ridiculous you think it might be!!! :D I'd really appreciate it!! :333

more blahs!~ )

Something completely else that I thought might be interesting for some of you who think about coming to Japan (and working as a teacher)

It seems that some female ALT teachers have problems with students harassing them (sexual harassment). It's not the first time I read about this.
Here's one forum thread on gaijinpot to give you an idea about it. ALTs are "Assistant Language Teachers" and work mainly in public schools (elementary, jr. high or high schools).
Thus, they have huge classes with all sorts of students. Of course, there are also those students who couldn't care less about studying. And as you know bullying in Japanese schools is quite harsh, too.
There seem to be a lot of problems in Japanese schools (not limited to Japanese (public) schools, of course!).

In my kind of job (eikaiwa - conversation school), it's different, though.
At least I've never heard that anybody had problems with sexual harassment (at least not from students XD).
In my school, I can't imagine it at all! Luckily!!~
But that's the big difference between a normal school where just everybody HAS to go and conversation schools where you can CHOOSE whether to go or not. They even pay money to come and study, so the majority of the students is somewhat willing to study. Classes are very small and the majority of the students comes from richer families (it doesn't mean that their manners are better, but I think you get what I'm trying to say).

Warning: not worksafe pic ahead!~ )

I'm totally in love with that dress. I love everything about it, especially the colors (although they don't match my Poupée's dark tan XD) .... I wish I had a dress like that in real life, although I think it wouldn't suit me, but who cares?! XD

I'm currently watching ......... (no, no jdramas!!) LOST!! - the last season!
It's so exciting and confusing, I can't stop watching and I'm pretty sure once I'm done I have to go back and rewatch everything from the start (season 1). Wow!!! I won't really have time for that, but who cares? XD
That's all. Over and out.

[Meme]: IMCT - Interactive Meme Creation Time!~
Hello there!~

I think the "meme creation" purpose somehow got lost in the length of one of my last entries (o_o'') .... so I'm trying it one more time today XD

If you know of any other 30 days memes - other than the ones I already posted, feel free to comment here and let me know about them.
I don't really intend to use the memes as they are now, but grab the best out of it, modify them, add my own ideas and what's most important add WHAT YOU WANT TO READ ABOUT!
So this will be an interactive entry where we all can create one or two memes together :D Of course, you can grab the meme and do it yourself once it's finished! :3

I've already grabbed the things that I'd love to do, now go ahead and tell me what I could add, please (^-^)/
The things I chose so far can also be modified, so don't be afraid to suggest whatever! I don't bite
Note: I'd rather have something where I can write about more than 1 or 2 sentences, because I don't think it's worth an entry otherwise, so maybe some things have to be paraphrased!!
I'll edit this entry accordingly so that you can see the progress we make!! ^-^

Japan specific: Things I want to do (modification possible - go ahead):

Day xx - How did you get interested in Japan / Japanese in the first place and how did it develop from there?
Day xx - Describe your neighborhood in Japan.
Day xx - Which, if any, Japanese mannerisms or expressions have you adopted?
Day xx - Something about Japan that sets it apart from anywhere else.
Day xx - Describe life as a "gaijin" (foreigner) in Japan (ups and downs)
Day xx - What is the hardest thing about living in Japan versus your home country?
Day xx - Your favorite Japanese saying or kotowaza (proverb).
Day xx - What is something you have/do in Japan that you wish you had/could do in your home country?
Day xx - What's the thing you [will] miss most about Japan when you leave?
Day xx - Did Japan meet your expectations, both good and bad? What has been the most surprising thing about Japan for you, or the thing you least expected?
Day xx - What are things that you still want to do / experience in Japan?
Day xx - What do you like/not like about the Japanese language?
Day xx - Your Japanese studies - in great detail
Day xx - Have you learned something about yourself since you're in Japan? - by [livejournal.com profile] modueca
Day xx - Are there things you don't miss about your home country? - by [livejournal.com profile] modueca

meme craziness!~ )

It's finally autumn here in Japan and I love the cute autumn fashion they have on Poupée this year (*__*)b
But today I'm a cowgirl XD

P.S.: I can't say it often enough because people always join Poupée because they heard about it in my journal and then add me there: IF YOU WANT TO JOIN POUPÉE TELL ME BEFORE JOINING!!! XD
Because if you do, I can send you an invitation and we both get presents/ribbons from it!! :3

On another short side note:
Ever since I got my new laptop and with it Windows 7, I've been having really STRANGE internet connection issues. I've been writing about it on Twitter again and again and I already tried so much to fix it, but I just have NO CLUE what's going on!!!
I first noticed it when Youtube suddenly didn't let me upload stuff anymore and one of my programs who needs to be synced with an online server also said it doesn't have a connection anymore.

Of course, my first thought was it's the internet connection itself, but I just plugged in my old (Windows XP) laptop and it worked just fine!
I changed the settings of my internet connection turned off antivir programs and the Windows firewall. No change.
Now, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it let's me have outgoing connections to these hosts (Youtube, Lang-8, etc.) sometimes it doesn't! I don't even restart the computer in the meantime or anything. I thought maybe it has to do with the daytime or whatever. On the other hand there are hosts/servers where I can ALWAYS upload without any problems (Mediafire, Imagehack etc.). I was wondeirng what was different about them then ....
Today I tried - just for fun - to use a program called Hotspot Shield (maybe some of you know it) - it gives you a US IP (some countries have restrictions, so they need to get an IP from another country) and BOOM suddenly everthing worked again!!! Even my downloads are faster now!!!! Then why does everything work fast and smooth on my old laptop with my Japanese IP??? And the annoying thing about Hotshield is that there are ads popping up everywhere (x____x)
See???!!! Verrrry strange, right? (x___X)

Next travel entry is coming up very soon, so stay tuned

[Japan]: Poll results and WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME?? ;__;
Hello!~

I'm crawling out of what I call my "study bubble". Although I don't really want to. I really have to force me to have some breaks! (Have a break, have a kit-kat XD - just that I don't have any weird-flavored kit-kats at home right now ... I think I'm blabbering strange stuff, just ignore! XD)
I shouldn't use the break to update my LJ, but to do some sport and/or go outside, BUT .... I need to and want to keep you guys updated and I really NEED YOU today (you'll see what I mean later on).
Anyways my studies are progressing smoothly (^-^')b

First of all, I want to thank everybody who took part in the poll about my journal.
Over 100 awesome people took part in it!!! Thank you soooo~ much!!! It was really interesting for me :D
I won't close it, but I'm pretty sure that the overall results won't change anymore. They're pretty clear:

Why do you read my journal? What are you interested in? (Note: you can pick more than one)

The poll gave me a general overview, now I want to hear from you guys more details! Please don't hold back. Just write away what EXACTLY you'd be interested in!!! Anything is fine, of course :)
To help you guys out a bit, I copied a few 30 days memes that are going around right now. One of them is a Japan meme that [livejournal.com profile] hinoai created together with her f-list. If you know about any other memes, feel free to post them here or use some of the questions here as proposal :D
Using these memes as a basis, I thought I could create something similar with YOUR help so that in the end we have something that you'd love to read about (and I'd love to write about).
I might have to split it up because some things I might not be able to post in a public entry, so I have to divide the too private topics/questions from the more general ones.
Anyways, just post away, k?~ (You can pick questions that you'd like me to answer out of the following memes or just create your own questions - also you can describe them in detail~)

Here are the different memes:

Meme terror~ )

That's pretty much my life lately and I enjoy studying again!
I can't understand what I did the last few months. I wasted too much time with ... WHAT???!!!!
Well, there were work issues, right, then I was sick for a long time, then the laptop issues etc. .... there WERE reasons, but still :/
Breaks like that really kill my progress!! I could take N1 by now if I didn't take any breaks!!! But then again, you just need breaks at times anyways - and sometimes breaks are a good thing!

Not so good news are that something is wrong with me lately and I have no idea WHAT!!!
It's difficult to actually write about it because I'm not sure if I can describe it so that you can understand it (I'm not sure if I even understand it myself ... *sigh*).
Today I'm perfectly fine for some reason ..... which means that it's probably not the best idea to write about it NOW because it will be even more difficult to describe the situation.

I wouldn't really say that I'm depressed or emo, but something is going on and it's just sooooooo not like me!!!!
I'm never depressed or emo!! NEVER!!!!
Lately I've been feeling kind of unhappy or rather dissatisfied. I'm not sure if those are the correct words, but maybe you get it.
I keep asking myself WHY and how to get OUT of it. I can't figure it out.

Longer rant, but ... uhm ... yah~ )

And for your amusement (I already posted it a while ago on Twitter):

P.S.: I still haven't finished answering to your comments in the "poll entry". I also won't answer to screened comments, hope you understand :D It's too much of a hassle to screen them again and I'm not sure how safe it is after commenting to them etc. ....

Japanese studies with Toma and JOKER! XD
Good evening!~ (or whatever time it is where you live ^-^; ..)

Here's just a quick (but not short) update!

As mentioned in my previous (travel) entry, I'm really busy lately.
Work has been horrible and busy, but it's also because I'm totally back into study mode!

That's right! I'm finally taking the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test)!
I'm pretty sure that most of you know about it anyways.
The level I want to take is N2 (formerly known as 2kyuu). As some of you know I already passed a 2kyuu mock test with 76% last year in September.

So, why am I not trying N1 then??

Toma rabuuuu ahead!~❤ )

Last but not least, some sad news: I didn't get any Arashi tickets through the fanclub (I'm not a member but one of my coworkers is and she balloted for both of us).
I REALLY wanna go to an Arashi concert at least once, though! I've been in Japan for almost 3 years now and never been to ANY concert (not only Arashi, but in general!!!)
I checked how much the tickets cost in online auctions just to find out that they're about 63.000-100.000yen (~630-1000$). If you get tickets through the fanclub directly it's only about 5000yen (50$)!!!!!
THIS is CRAZY!!!!! Only the ones for Sapporo Dome are cheaper (45.000yen), but all of the cities where the concerts will take place are far away and either way I'd have to pay another 10.000-45.000yen just to get to the concert hall!! We're talking about 1000$ just for ONE short concert!!! That's just too crazy ;o; .... Not sure yet, what I'll do.
Maybe I'll go to the concert hall closest to where I live and wait in front of the dome before the concert and just hope that somebody will sell their tickets then ...
Any other ideas? Guess not. I know there are so many fans out there who have exactly the same problem (x___X)

Funny and random facts - corner:
The other day I watched an episode of JOKER (my favorite drama this season btw. - wanna post more about dramas soon, hope I'll find some time!!) and it took me about 10 minutes to notice that I didn't have subtitles turned on yet XDDD

Well, that's all for today.
I'm going to fill out my JLPT application now and then I wanna get some more studying done before going to bed!

Hey there!

It's Saturday, close to midnight. I came back from work a few hours ago and I should go to bed soon as I have to get up quite early tomorrow.
The reason:

Photo: fujigoko_dream @ Twitter <3

Yes, FINALLY my long awatied summer vacation!!!
I did a lot of last minute planning yesterday and the last few hours as well (just details, of course).
The longer you plan, the more things you find, you'd like to do.
The family member who'll join me this time is already on the way as well!~
Please note: Although the banner says "8th-15th" I might be away from the internet until the 20th because although my vacation is over then, my family member will come here and join me and we'll make some shorter trips togehter, so I'll be extremely busy!!

My new laptop! <3
Okay, hello, hello!~

Finally I have some time to show you my new shiny (well, not really! XD) laptop!!!
As you all know I had to wait for it like what seemed to be forever! It was supposed to arrive on July 14th at the latest and in the end it came on the 26th (at a time when I was so busy that I didn't really get to touch it until the 29th!!!!!!) *sigh*

Anyways, waiting is finally over and here we go!!~

As you can see they're pretty much equally thick! :)

As for performance (the main reason why I needed and wanted a new laptop) the Lenovo is awesome so far!!!
4GB Ram and the new i5 CPU are really fast!!!
So far programs all run smoothly and a few times faster than before!! The difference is REALLY huge!! I hope it'll stay like that for a while. That's why I spent so much money to get one of the newest processors out there that won't be outdated too soon!

And what's good about the new laptop? )

Meanwhile I'm still trying to fight the heat.
I have the feeling that it's getting hotter every day! No kidding!
There were a few days last week when it was cloudy and windy, so it was a bit nicer to be outside, but now we're back to sunny weather (x__X)
In order to stay cool, I drink a looooooooooooooooooooot. Mainly water, but I always also drink other things and I love to try out new things such as

New Starbucks: Orange Chocolate (have yet to try!)
Sunkist!! (HOMG! Didn't know they have this in Japan as well! ^^)
Yuzu juice! Sooooo yummie!!!! It's from Kochi! I wonder why I didn't try this when I was in Kochi last year!! I wanna drink it again (*_*)v

I'm also fighting the heat and monster mosquitoes on Poupee!!! My Poupee week:

I really like that yukata! I'm still thinking about buying one for real, but I'm too stupid to get dressed up by myself ;o; ......

More dress-ups of this week!~ )

I can't believe that I'll already have summer vacation next week around this time!!
Time sure runs fast, especially if you have so many problems to solve every day (O_O'') ...
Anyways, I'm really looking forward to it!!!
I can't believe that Nagoya is even hotter than here! I read something about 36°C!!! I can't even imagine it to be hotter than now!! (x__X) ...
Last preperations still need to be done, though.
I'm still not sure what to take with me on Mt. Fuji. (clothes!) Any suggestions?
I don't really wanna spend a lot of money and get stuff I never wear again.

Alright, that's it!
Thanks a lot for reading! (^-^)/~

[Japan]: Horrible summer and horrible school system!
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuu....

Okay, I'm trying to stay calm while writing this entry.
I just had a nervous breakdown, so forgive my maybe sloppy writing, k? (-____-'')

I HATE summer in Japan. That's not new.
It's my 4th summer here in Japan and it's never been so bad!!! Even last year when I didn't have running water for about a week it was still OKAY!!!
I never was a big fan of summer in Japan, but I could bear with it somehow!
THIS YEAR I CAN'T!!!!
I have no clue what's going on! I'm not sure what's different from the other 3 summers!
One would suppose that your body gets used to the extreme temperatures after 3-4 years, but ... uhm, no?!

Note: This and the following photos have been taken today from my balcony with my Pentax :3

Let's completely change the topic to something much more interesting!!!!
I was talking about the Japanese school system a little bit when introducing my job.
As most of you know Japan's school system is very strict. Kids need to go to a good kindergarten in order to enter a good elementary school. Then they need to go to "cram schools" after normal school is over in order to prepare for the entrance exams for a good middle school, then high school, then university etc.
They're drilled from a very young age on!!!
There's this saying in Japan that a "nail that sticks out needs to be hammered in" (or at least something to that degree). Character building is not important at all. "Special" people, especially artists or eccentric people have a hard time and often leave Japan to live in more "open-minded" places such as America or Europe.
Maybe that's the main reason why there is so much bullying in Japan. Most of you have already seen in it anime or drama anyways. It's really extreme and a lot of students also commit suicide because of it.
I know that this is a problem not only in Japan, though.

Here's a documentation about bullying in Japan: School Bullies in Japan (@youtube)
Side Note:
Here you could hear very well the level of Japanese "English teachers" - and his English was still pretty good compared to some other teachers I've met so far! Other people on my f-llist working with JTEs can probably confirm this.
Also, they say that only "weak" students or students that "are not as smart as others" are being bullied. I know from experience that this is not necessarily true! One of my students, she's SUCH a nice girl, was bullied in her school, too!!! And that's because she was the best in class!!!! It's so sad, really :/

Now, and that was the original reason for this entry today, there are some exceptions even in Japan!!!!
When I found this today, I was really moved after watching it!!!
Please definitely watch it!!!!! I wish we all had such a teacher when we were young!!! I wish Japan had more teachers like that!!!

So, how do you feel after watching it?
Please tell me your thoughts! Please also tell me about your country's school system and if there's bullying and what you think about the whole thing.

Last but not least: Seen at Poupéegirl

I'm Japanese, so I only understand Japanese, sorry! <-- WTF??!! )

And that's enough of my ranting for today.
I hope you have a better time than me!!!
Let's hope for better and COOLER days!!!
Luv ya ALL!!~

[Japan]: Still sick (reasons?) - still no laptop (reasons? XD) - and stuff!~
Hello.

Thanks to everybody for the "Get well soon"-wishes here. It seemed to help, after a week I'm slowly getting better.
My nose is still running and I still keep killing millions of innocent tissues, but it's somewhat getting better.
I still have a slight fever. I just took my temperature and was shocked to see that it's still slightly over 37°C!! (o__o'') ..... AGAIN!! Actually it was gone for 1 or 2 days and now it's back (o_o'') ...
My nose or my whole breathing system still don't work normally, I'm coughing every now and then and that after SEVEN days (with!!! medicine).
That's a little bit strange. Maybe I should go to a doctor after all. Especially because I want to climb Mt. Fuji in just a few days and in my current condition this is not an option!!!!!

Laptop Ranting again (yeah, I still don't have it ...) .. you can skip this if you want to x___X ... )

People suggested I should eat healthier, but honestly, I think I eat quite healthy already.
Of course there's always a lot of room for improvement!

I don't smoke or drink.
I eat cereals (without sugar) with fresh fruit (mostly banana, kiwi and whatever else is in season) + milk/yoghurt or soy milk for breakfast.
Lunch is usually bread (unfortunately no German whole-grain bread :( ... but I try to get dark bread, e.g. genmaicha bread) with cheese or ham, and raw vegetables (cucumber, carrot, tomato), sometimes also with olives (so expensive in Japan!)
And dinner is often packed lunch I bought in the supermarket (which I think is still healthier than the conbini store food!!!) or - if I have a day off like today - rice with natto/vegetables or spagetthi or something like that (I usually don't REALLY cook).

That was today's dinner. Spaghetti Carbonara with a half-boiled egg on top (*___*)v Yummie!!!!

Sport Advice please and ThE WoRlD cUp! )

In other news I FINALLY updated my SALES ENTRY!

Quite a huge update this time!! Make sure to check it out! Don't tell me later you missed something!!
And I hate the character limit here on LJ!!! At least paid accounts shouldn't have that!!!!

In a few days there's a reunion of high school graduates. I graduated from high school 10 years ago. Some of the people I haven't seen ever since then.
I'd love to go, but of course I CAN'T!! I'm in Japan, so there's no way! Some of my friends are going, though. I already told them that they need to tell me every little detail! XD

And that's it for now!!!
A lot of whining again. I wish I could update about more interesting and happier things!
I don't like how things go lately. I hope it'll get better again from now on!!
Also, sorry that I'm sooooo late with answering comments, e-mails etc.!!! I tried to catch up a bit today, but couldn't completely finish and since my fever seems to come back I'm not sure what'll happen in the next few days.
Wish me luck (>_>'') .....

[Japan]: My job and question time?!
Hullo.

I really feel bad for not updating at all lately (unless it's laptop-whining-related *sigh*).
Actually people kept asking me about my job a lot lately. I realized that some of you still have no idea what I'm actually doing here in Japan?? And even if I tell you, you might not know what it is at first!
So, I want to use this chance to tell you rather quickly about it (it's really not a big deal!).

I work as teacher in Japan.
Some people already knew but were surprised when they heard I come home after 10pm. That's because I work in an "eikaiwa". Now, you might not know what an "eikaiwa" is, then let me tell you it's kind of a "juku".
You also don't know what that means?
Okay, then how about this.

I hope that helped you to get a better idea of what I'm up to (almost) every day.
As you might have guessed right, today is my day off which is why I have time to type this.

I'd like to give you the chance to ask questions now. Anything is fine with me, really. That people didn't even know what kind of job I'm doing, made me a bit sad *g* If you want to know more about my life in Japan, ask away!
But as this is a public entry, I might not be able to answer your question in a comment. In that case I'll send you a private LJ message :3

That's all.
My laptop issue is still not solved. I'm also busy with other things.
Guess I have to keep updating, there ARE some things to report after all.

Much love friends!!

[Japan]: Unlucky days, rain and laptop terror
What a day!!! What an unlucky day!!!
Well, I think it already started a few days ago, but today's (hopefully) the peak (-__-'') I'm sooo exhausted!
Actually this entry wasn't planned to be like it will be now as something happened today which made me change or rather add something to it.

I'm not sure where to start.

I turned on my laptop, wanted to update Twitter, but it (= the laptop) was bitchy again. Wouldn't let me type and behaving strange, so I did a restart.
Then, I suddenly got (and for the first time ever!!) A BLUE SCREEN!!!!!!! It told me something about a hardware error (please contact your ... blah ... saying something about the memory) - honestly I was so shocked and close to a heart attack that I didn't bother reading it.
I plugged it out immediately, tried again, started in safe mode, it worked. I turned it off, started in normal mode, and LUCKILY it still worked!!!!
But that's it!!! All the problems HAVE BEEN hardware problems. That just confirms it and maybe I don't have much time left until my laptop dies on me for real!! *panic*
Back home I wouldn't worry that much, because my family members and friends have computers I could use as long as I'm laptop-less, but here in Japan??? No no no!! I would be soooooooooooooooooo doomed!!!

So JUST yesterday I decided to wait some more and relax a bit, and just observe the Japanese market for prices to drop, but NOW I don't think I still have that option!!!
Or rather I don't wanna risk a dying laptop and then being internetless, not even able to order a new laptop!!!!

So, here's the FINAL ROUND!!! I promise ;o; .....

It will be a match between some really different opponents! Actually they couldn't be more different!!!

Lenovo's/IBM' ThinkPad T510 vs. Macbook Pro 15''
EDIT: And the winner iiiiiiiissssssssssss~~~~~~ THINKPAD!!!!!

Thanks so much everybody!!!!
Will order it tomorrow. Have to get some money on my card first. Unfortunately it'll take 1-2 weeks (bc it's a custom order). Lets hope my old laptop will be okay until then!!

Will this be a tough decision? Will I have to rob a bank? Will you help me do so? XD )

I don't like rainy season very much, but I hate the summer heat and humidity even more.
One good thing about the rainy season or June in general are the hydrangeas!!! They're sooo beautiful and colorful :D

These are some photos I took a few days ago when it wasn't raining ^-^

Thanks so much for reading.
And thanks so so soooooooooooo much for your advice in the previous entries!! You can't imagine how helpful it has been, really!!!!

[Japan]: Armies of insects killed my notebook! ;o;
Hello! Gudn' Taaaa~ch!

It's finally raining, rainy season has officially started and although I hate rain this time I'm actually GLAD that it's finally raining.
Here's why:

That's not sand or anything, but millions of tiny, yuckie insects!!!!!!! I'm not even sure I know exactly what they were, maybe baby mosquitoes, maybe flies .... (>_>)
But what you see on that photo is actually harmless!!! That's only the leftovers the next morning!! They already cleaned most of it up!!
The night before in our school, they were everywhere!! Inside, too, so we had to spray (I hate insect spray as I also get affected by it easily, headache etc. ...), but we really had no other choice!!
They plastered all our windows and what was worse: the entrance door!!!!!! It was like in a horror movie, I kid you not!!!
Some female students waited outside (at night!!!) because they were too disgusted to come in! One of our male teachers went outside with the spray and sprayed the door from the outside for a few minutes.
After a while we had thousands of insect corpses lying around on the floor inside and IN OUR SHOES etc. .... it was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo disgusting!!! (;o;) ....

... I can't say it often enough: I hate summer in Japan!!! *sigh*

More disgusting facts! )

And we're not done yet!!!
I decided to buy a new notebook after all as I just can't figure out how to fix my old one (that is - if it can be fixed at all anyways).
A friend of mine who knows quite a lot about computers in general suggested to look for the following things:
brand: Acer, HP, Fujitsu or Sony
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo or i5/i7
Memory: 4GB

[Japan]: Bitchy laptops meet Arashi in the rain with creepy mixi members!
Hello.

It's been a while since my last entry. I've been quite busy with many things.
There's quite a lot to update about, so the next travel photo entry has to wait a bit, sorry (^-^')

One of the many things that keeps me busy is this SHITTY (excuse me) laptop!!!!
I know I've been ranting a lot about it lately, but you can't imagine HOW MUCH IT'S GETTING ON MY NERVES!!!
It's really slow and the system is suddenly freezing almost every day. I can't watch movies/dramas on my computer anymore because most of the time it's very stocking or it'll just freeze completely.
Only if I shut down all other programs it sometimes still works. It's not been like that before, so I guess I really have no other choice but to buy a new laptop ;o;

What I'm worried about as well is WHERE TO BUY a new laptop!!!
I'd love to have a German keyboard again, but Read more... )

Another reason why I don't have time is that I have too many accounts online that keep me busy:

  • Livejournal: [livejournal.com profile] chochajin and [livejournal.com profile] densha_onna

  • Mixi: I have an account since 2006, but have not really been using it. I decided to go back to use it and then was overwhelmed by a flood of messages from creepy Japanese people whose first question was where in Japan I live or telling me that they googled me and found out about my other accounts. CREEPY!! What's wrong with mixi? I thought it's a good option to pracitce my Japanese more, but just normal conversation is too easy now and I don't learn anything from it. Maybe I should ignore that account again. I won't delete it, though.

  • Ameblo: Pretty much the same as my Japanese blog here on LJ. Not really worth keeping. Probably will stop using it.

  • Lang-8: Obviously using it for practicing my Japanese and that's the one thing I'm not going to stop/delete. I want to update once a week, but most of the time I can't (-_-'')

  • Poupéegirl: The one thing I can't stop although it doesn't have to do with studying Japanese at all and it costs a lot of time and money, but it's sooo much fun!!! (*__*)v

  • MeroMeroPark: Similar online game as Poupéegirl, sotpped playing. Account inactive.

  • Twitter: daily updates (actually I don't think Twitter costs me any time - on the contrary it helps me not to forget about things I want to post in Livejournal later on and it's easier to just quickly post short updates - much better than to write an extra entry each time XD)

  • SmartFM: I used it a long time ago every day intensively (to study Japanese), but now my account is inactive and I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to using it.

  • Animexx: German anime community (although I check the website daily, I'm not active at all there XD)

  • and many many more that I haven't been using in ages, so ... I can't even remember now XD

I think that's it.
Gotta get rid of some of those accounts, I guess. *sigh*
What platforms are you using? How many accounts do you have? Are they all still active?

Speaking of Poupéegirl, here's my dress-up history (May/June)

[Japan]: Random rainy season entry ;P
Hello again! (^-^)/

I'm sorry if you expected the next Kyoto travel entry already, but not today, sorry!! Probably on Sunday!
Anyways, I'm just quickly posting a random update.

As I told you before, my laptop has been acting up a lot lately, so I decided I have to perform a formatting.
I've been preparing for that the last few days and I'm as good as done now. I'll perform it in a few hours. Let's hope everything will go well and I won't forget to save any IMPORTANT files *sigh*
Even my 320GB external drive is too small for a back-up (^-^'') .... it's time to buy an extra one to have an extra back-up on another external drive and to be able to easily move my data to there if I have to format again.
Around 500GB would be good. This one (Buffalo) looks so cute (unfortunately it's quite expensive ..):

I prefer WD (Western Digital), though. I already have a really tiny and awesome WD external drive I brought from Germany, but WD doesn't seem to be very common here in Japan. The only one I could find that fits my requirements was this and that's only for Mac users x___X

And that's it!!! Going to eat yummie fruit cake and then continue with my formatting preparation.

[Japan]: The sexy Toma manual rant with limited plushies and fairy tale movies! XD
Hullo~

I have the feeling it's been a while since I posted a non-photo, non-travel related entry? *scratches head*
Well, there you go, but I warn you, because it's been a while this entry is loaded with random stuff like WOAH!!

Where to start?
A rant? Yeah, let's get that one done first, so we have some time later for more interesting stuff XD
Lately, I wonder what I've been doing. I'm sure some of you remember my rants about "not having enough time to study" / "wanting to have time for other things than study and work" / "getting off the internet some more" / "experiencing Japan some more instead" etc.
Well, I guess this is just a sequel to it. (〃´o`)=3
Gero geeeero!!!!!~ XD )

Let's move on to more amusing things, ok? :D

Like ... the AnAn issue with Toma ON and IN it?!↴

But Toma is not the only interesting thing in this issue, wanna know more about the sex manual ??!!!!! Read on! )

Let's get back to my internet obsession and thus to Poupéegirl.
It's gotten more and more evil lately. The newest event is probably one of the BEST and cutest EVER!!!! THE ZOO AND AQUARIUM EVENT!!
I'm a sucker for cute animals as you probably know!!

P.S.: If you're reading about Poupée here for the first time and want to try it out, let me know. Signing up and playing is free of charge and if you sign up via me we both get benefits (*_*)v [/advertisement]

And for those, not interested in Poupée at all, I'm sorry to bore you!!
Maybe the next one is more to your liking???

Yesterday night I FINALLY watched "パコと魔法の絵本" - or "Paco and the Magical Picture Book". It was awesome! I was really surprised!
I think this is actually a movie I keep so that I can watch it again some other time.
I loved the colors of that movie!! I loved the actors and crazy characters. It's like a modern fairy tale, but actually I don't want to tell you ANYTHING about the movie!
You have to experience it by yourself! That movie lives from its colors, atmosphere, soundtrack and crazy characters. I'm afraid that my words wouldn't come up to the awesomeness of this movie.

Instead, I'll throw some screencaps at you and I hope that they'll lure you <3
Once upon a time in a hospital ....

Let the magic begin (*_*)v )

That's all folks.
Congrats if you actually managed to read and browse through all the pics until here. Great job! Now go and watch the movie, go to Poupée and get the Limiteds or get a Japanese bf/gf to test if the above is true or not! XD
Can't believe it'll be already May tomorrow (o__o') ... gotta go and wash my dishes and then my hair.

Yummie things and red hair?!
Hullo.

I caught a cold and feel like crap :(
I hate it when I can't breathe through my nose (>_>) Makes me aggressive! XD
I wonder why I caught a cold, though. It's finally getting warmer and nobody around me is sick, so from where/why did I get it? I already took some of that yuckie Japanese powder medicine that makes you super sleepy and knocks you out quite fast. I don't like it, but it helps you recover faster. If I write crap, it's due to the meds! [/excuse]
It's raining again today. They say it's the coldest April since 30 years or so. What's wrong with the weather?
Also, did you hear about the volcanic eruption in Iceland? Are you affected by it?
Since Sunday (early!) morning people keep driving around in their cars and screaming through a megaphone: "My name is XY! Please vote for me!". That woke me up on Sunday.
For me as German Sunday's are supposed to be quiet, even supermarkets and stuff are closed on Sundays. And I'm pretty sure that in some countries "propaganda" like that is not allowed. Either way it's REALLY annoying! :/ - It will go on until next Sunday when the elections are (x__X)/

Anyway, today is my day off and I try to relax to get healthy again and I also use the time to update LJ :)

Let's start with a photo I took exactly 2 month ago:

I stumbled across this video the other day. It's really interesting and funny, though, not all the information might be accurate and misleading and it might be a bit cruel/rude, but it's still interesting, so if you have time, go and watch it :)

After my spring vacation, I decided to quit "MeroMeroPark" and only concentrate on Poupéegirl from now on.

In other news, I changed my Poupée's hairstyle and color:

And that's it for today.
The "old vs. new camera comparison entry" (*rofl*) is coming up soon as well as the next "travel entry" (day 2 in Hiroshima).
Hope you're all doing well.

Hello,

as I have no travel photos to post anymore, it's been a while since my last post.
I finally went back to study, only 3 months left until the test (x___X)/ Not sure if I really should take it (yah, I know I say that EVERY YEAR!! XD ... :(;゙゚'ω゚'): ....)

Anyway between Saturday and Monday the first cherry blossoms started blooming here:

I hope the cherry blossoms in Hiroshima and Kyoto will wait for my arrival in about a week o(´^`)o

Here's what I got:

People who read my Twitter might already know: I FINALLY watched Arashi's 最後の約束 ("Saigo no yakusoku" / The last promise) yesterday night (*__*)v
It was muuuuch better than I expected it to be. Although I'm a huge Jun fan, I still think he's not the best actor out of the 5, but he's so cool and cute and made me squee a few times in this drama special again (*__*)
I hade taken quite a few screencaps (mainly of Jun XD), but for some reason my computer decided to fuck up, so I had to get some from here (<- you might not wanna click if you haven't seen the movie/special yet, spoilers ahead!).
I modified the screencaps a bit (I still love playing with colors and it seems I didn't forgot how to yet...), no spoilers, so don't worry:
