[Camera]: I has finally made a decision!

just really briefly, because I don't have time (^-^')
Thanks to everybody who commented and helped me with my decision yesterday

After going to DeoDeo and Big Camera again today I finally made up my mind: I'll go with the Pentax K-x.
Great, you might think. Yah ... me2. I thought all that's left is to find the best price online and then order it, but ... then BOOOOM the next catastrophe came up.
Of course I wanna get one of the individual color variations, right?
That wouldn't be a problem as it's only 30$/25€ more expensive than the standard colors and soooo worth it, BUT!!!!!!!!!! If you order a custom color variation, it'll take about TWO FREAKING WEEKS
I prolly won't get my cam in time for
sakura season and also not for my spring vacation which was the ACTUAL reason to buy this cam in the first place!!!
And what's worse is that because it's a custom order you can't cancel your order and you CAN'T SEND IT BACK!!!!!!
What if I don't like the cam? What if something is wrong with it????

Should I just get the "standard", but boring black instead, save 30$/3000yen and get it in time, but then be angry later that I didn't get one of the cool color variations???

I finally ordered. After quite a long time of thinking about it I let go of the pink grip and got this:
I was looking for some "real live photos" of the cam with that grip and apparently it looked different from what I expected (you can also compare it to the first screenshot in my entry):
The "lightpink" camera has some sort of metallic glimmer which makes it look more elegant than some of the other models. The grip, though, doesn't match that "elegant" image. It's plain pink with no glimmer, so I thought it would look strange. Unfortunately that's the only photo I could find with that color combo (guess not many people use it), but I think it's better with the black grip - although maybe not as unique.
How do you like my decision? I hope I won't regret it!
I saw another Japanese person posting feedback for the shop I bought it from, saying that he got it after only 1 week, not 2!!! So that let's me hope a bit ;o; ......
This one looks nice, too btw.:
P.S.: This site shows even the "robot Pentax" in extremely many colors, very interesting, but nothing for me XD

And now I hopefully will be free from camera obsession for almost 2 weeks and can go back to study Japanese (which I completely neglected lately x___X .... ahem.)

Furthermore they don't say anything about not being able to return in on the Pentax site and also not on the shop site where I eventually ordered it from. They only say that you'll have to wait for about 2 weeks. So let's hope the best ^^;

それよりレンズの方が重要です。どういうレンズを使うかで、全く違う写真になります。
それと、DSLRは撮影の練習が絶対に必要です。旅行までにたくさん写真を撮って、使い方をよく理解して覚えておかないと、本当の意味できれいな写真は撮れないですよ。(*'-'*)

at least now you've got it in time for the actual occasion you wanted to use it for first... would've been a shame if you missed out on it just because you were so picky on something as unimportant as the colour of the grip eh? :P plus it saved you some money.
as for the cards.. doesn't really matter what kinds you get.. as long as it's not some obscure brand. Kingston and Sandisk are good brands, there are also some others but those 2 are the most well-known. Get a large one so you can take many pictures without having to worry about space.

As it's a custom order and they have yet to produce it, it takes up to 2 weeks which means it MIGHT come when I'm already out for spring vacation and thus too late ...
It didn't save me money, as I still got a colored version, just the grip stays black. That doesn't make a difference in price!
Only the black, white and red versions are a LITTLE bit (~25€) cheaper!
I heard it's better to buy 2 smaller ones (e.g. 2 8GB cards) rather than a big one (e.g. one 16GB). Thanks, though :)

Außerdem hab ich gehört, dass Pentax DACH (Deutschland, Ösiland, Schweiz) nur einige wenige 100 der Colorvariationen importieren wird. Die werden dann dementsprechend teuer und schwer zu kriegen sein bei euch. Was hoffentlich bedeutet, dass ich meine Kamera irgendwann recht teuer in Deutschland an Sammler verkaufen kann *hoff*

最後から2番目の文章ですが、「まぁ、カメラは間に合うと次の日もう春休みでしょう。」は、「まぁ、カメラは間に合ったとしても、次の日もう春休みでしょう。」と書かないと間違いです。
「～としても、・・・」は、「たとえ～としても、・・・」の「たとえ」を省略した言い方で、英語のeven ifとほぼ同じです。
「たとえ」は省略してもいいんですが、「しても」は省略できません。

as for the sd cards... "large" in this case means larger than 4GB.. it's not so wise to get the largest ones as they are waaaay too expensive for what they are.. usually the second largest ones out there are the best price/quality you can get, which seems to be 16GB at the moment at around €45,- a piece. 32GB cards are over €100 in general and 8GB costs -more- than half the price of a 16GB card (so 2 8GBs is more expensive than 1 16GB).
It's always good to have a backup obviously so it's better to have 2 of the same.. and in the case of the 16GB cards, 2 16GBs cost less than 1 32GB in general. You do have to pay attention to brands though, as prices can differ quite considerably. The prices of 32GB cards for instance vary between €100 and €300 from what i've seen, which is a humongous price difference. The smaller cards also vary somewhat but a lot less than the high-end cards.
However i doubt you'll ever need 2 cards considering you only have short vacations when you really use your camera a lot. So you might as well go for one 4 or 8 GB card instead of one or two of the large ones, and save yourself a load of money even though it's not the best price/quality you can get.

As long as your happy with the Pentax model and it does what you want to do or have the function you like, then go ahead and buy it ^^
The lens attached to the camera is good too. I went around with a 17-55mm lens around Japan and had no problem with taking pictures of what I wanted. You can always buy a lens with more zoom if you want. Or if your camera comes with a double kit, that's good too. Which means you can get 2 different lens.
With SD cards. it depends what you wanna use the camera for. I use mine for low light shots so I need a fast and a good quality SD card (if not, taking the pictures will be slow). but if you are taking shots in day light, then a basic SD card works for me.
The brand I use is Sandisk. Japan should have it too. With SD cards, it goes by 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, 8gb, 16gb.
While in Japan I was travelling around with 8gb and if you set the camera on JPEG. you can take 1,000+ pictures (it also depends on the quality like low or high for JPEG - if you chose low JPEG you will have more pictures to take with the camera, if you chose high JPEG you will have less picture to take).
Regarding SDHD, I'm not sure about Pentax, but I think the camera can take SDHD cards. My nikon reads it fine. But best to double check with the sales assistance if the camera can read it.

Only white, red and standard black are standard and can be bought in regular shops. Everything else is custom order, no matter if you choose a black grip or not.

Actually, I use 3 cards for my digital cam already during my vacation. The 2GB killed my Fuji photos (as you might remember) so I would only use it for emergency now. Then I have a 4 and 8GB card and usually I have to use both. You have NO IDEA how many photos I take - ESPECIALLY during spring vacation! XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

and yeah i already knew you had several cards and with the dslr you are probably going to take more pictures so i wasn't entirely sure what to recommend :P i just considered how many pics i usually take on holiday (a picture every 2 or 3 steps i take xD) but my digicam is rather slow, i can totally imagine how you can take like 5 or 6 pictures every time you actually take pictures of something.
