I know train delays in Japan are much rarer than they are in other countries (especially Britain, where it's surprising when trains actually arrive on time), but I've used the train to go to work for almost 2 years now, and delays really aren't that rare. I think my trains to and from work will be delayed 3-4 times a month. Mainly weather related, it seems. It might just be that where I live the trains are easily affected by the weather though, I guess.
