Why Fear of Discomfort Might be Ruining my Life!

Hi!

Just a quick update today.
First of all I simply want to say I'm really thankful and also surprised how many people still seem to read my LJ.
After all I don't update that often anymore, so I REALLY appreciate that you guys still read it and that you even care and comment!
I can't even express how thankful I am for that! :3

Now some random things:

I just stumbled upon this blog entry a while ago and thought this is exactly about me: Why Fear of Discomfort Might be Ruining Your Life
Of course, it fits for many people, but it fits PERFECTLY for my current situation.
(Not sure if I should call it a "current situation" as it has been going on for a few years now ... *sigh*)
Anyways, it's an interesting read!

A photo of today's thunderstorm.
It's soooo hot this summer! Much hotter than usually. Even hotter than the claimed "hottest summer 2010"! It's crazy! And it's only getting worse from now on!
They already confirmed that it's the hottest summer in a VERY LONG TIME, even hotter than in 2010.

Today's thunderstorm was a few hours long and intense with lots of lightning and frightening loud thunder. It was extreme!
Also, we had a few tornado warnings here in Kansai recently. The last one was yesterday, but as far as I know no tornado came.

Rainy season was pretty short compared to usually.
That might be the reason why the frogs this year aren't so bad. It's absolutely NOTHING compared to last year! And it's not because I got used to the noise!
Others confirmed that it's much more quiet this year (maybe less frogs)!?!

In other news, I spent the last few days and today my WHOLE DAY OFF (aka Sunday) to plan my summer vacation.
I HATE HATE HATE planning so much!!! Had to do a lot of phone calls just to be told that there are no vacant rooms etc.
Had to book a few flights, rental cars and a lot of different accommodations.
I'm still not completely finished, but almost.

I'm not completely satisfied with the outcome as I had to book accommodation I usually wouldn't, but as everything else was full, I had no choice and I might not get a rental car for one of my destinations, so I have to bear with walking or cycling in the unbearable heat! :/ ....

I decided to visit Okinawa again. This time I'm trying to visit (almost) all of the Yaeyama Islands (Ishigaki, Iriomote, Hateruma, Hatoma etc.) and Yonaguni.

As it's high season - and I also have not much to choose from, prices are EXTREMELY high! This is yet another super expensive vacation! (T___T)
I just really hope it's worth it because as you might remember my last trip to Okinawa was NOT!!!
2 weeks of rain .... and we had to re-schedule our trip (which was much more expensive than planned) due to bad weather and ferries that got cancelled. *sigh*

To give you just one example:

And in the picture above it was still an OK weather.

Often it looked more like that:

Oh well, let's just hope for the best! ^__^;;

I'm off to drop into my bed now.
Can't believe that I spent a few days and the whole day today on planning (and I'm still not finished!!).
My eyes hurt!

Hopefully I can relax a little tomorrow and then FINALLY write a post for my blog again. That one is slowly dying without me taking care of it.

I can totally relate with that article! That was actually what I did when I decided I had to force myself to like lettuce XD.

I hope your trip goes smoothly. That comparison pic is really scary o_o.

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com 2013-07-16 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you didn't like lettuce? ^^

Thanks so much! ^_^

Interesting read indeed!!! I can really relate, especially when it comes to saying NO to people and procrastination XD (plus the other much bigger problems in my life...) The solution really sounds so easy doesn't it? Even though I guess it takes loads of willpower, I do think there is truth to what he says :) It's like having an itch - if you just wait and endure the itch without scratching long enough it goes away!

Hoping you get some rain though if it is that hot, for the plants' sake :)

Hopefully I'll know tomorrow what my Okinawa vacation will be like (I mean, I'm going either way question is how long of a time I can get off work). My plan is Okinawa, Kumejima, Miyako and almost all Yaeyama islands (especially Iriomote, but also Yonaguni, Hateruma, Kuroshima, Taketomi, Kohama and Ishigaki). It'll be a lot of day trips, hopefully the weather is not too rough and ferries don't get cancelled. I really want to go see the underwater monuments in Yonaguni ^-^ Good luck on your vacation!!!

To me the solution doesn't sound so easy. I guess it can be quite difficult depending on what you try to "change". ;)

It was raining a lot yesterday and in fact it cooled down a bit, but it's getting hot again! T_T
I read an article that the Kansai area has to suffer from extreme heat especially this year! :(

Sounds great! ^___^
For seeing the underwater ruins you must be an experienced diver. Are you? o_O

[identity profile] amvn.livejournal.com 2013-07-16 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been planning to take the divers certificate ever since I was old enough (my relatives are experienced divers, so I learned to "free-dive" at a young age) but I never got around to it. Maybe I have it next time I go. But they have tours to the ruins with glass-bottomed boats, and I'm planning on going on a snorkeling tour there I saw being offered (of course, this is if the weather permits...) It's apparently shallow enough there :) But yeah, definitely next time I go I'll have my divers permit! ^-^

Wow! ^^
Yes, I intend to take one of those glass-bottomed boats! ^^

It's funny that we're pretty much having the same trip this time, but unfortunately not at the same time! T_T

I suppose that I should consider myself lucky that article doesn't relate to me at all. However, I quite sympathize with the situation.

With regard to your trip to Okinawa and the Rykyus, did you ever watch the drama "Ruri no Shima"? Or the movie "Kaifu wo Machiwabite"? They both take place on those islands, and I liked them very much.

Anyway, have a great time!

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com 2013-07-16 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
I envy you! You can consider yourself lucky indeed!

No. I knew about some movies, but I've never seen any of these. Maybe I should try to find and watch them before I go! ;)

Thank you! ^___^

I would particularly recommend Kaifu wo Machiwabe. I thought it original and sensitive.

Ok, great! :)
Thank you! ^^

just passing by to say that i was at shirakawa a few days ago and i saw a girl just like you! ^^
thought of asking if it was you but... i was too shy! >.

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com 2013-07-15 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Good thing you didn't ask because it surely wasn't me! XDDD
Too busy to go anywhere at the moment! :(

Maybe it was my clone?
If so I need to get her to do all of my work, so I can relax a bit! ;)

[identity profile] bunny-alice.livejournal.com 2013-07-16 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
hahaha!! you should look for that girl then! she looked a LOT like you! well... as far as i've seen you in pics! ;)

I'm sure that this time the summer vacation will be wonderful!!
*hugs*

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com 2013-07-20 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
I hope so.
Thank you! ^____^

If you know where to get it you might try Dr Koto as it was filmed on Yonaguni. I really enjoyed the drama, but after the MU disaster I wasn't able to find the rest of the episodes.

Okinawa weather is a lot better in summer. Bad weather doesn't usually stay long unlike in winter.

I try to move out of my comfort zone as well. I go to Sherlock meetings in my area and although it was terrible at first (they're all a lot younger, some are HALF MY AGE) it's a lot of fun now. Even if I don't get all they're talking about, but whatever. Just having people to fangirl with is amazing :)

I still have a lot to work on privately and for my company, but I'm trying now and it's usually worth it, even if it's sometimes quite hard.

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com 2013-07-22 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, let's see if I can find it somewhere! ^^

Well, let's hope that's true! T_T

*sigh* For me it doesn't seem to matter whether I'm in Japan or in Germany, I just can't get my ass out there! :(
