[Japan Travel]: Nara - Day 3
Hello!❤
Because of my camera obsession I neglected my travel entries. Sorry about that (^-^)>
Here's already my last day in Nara. In the evening I left for Osaka, where I spent the next day shopping and then I had to go back home for work. Vacation was over ;o;
But one thing after another, ne?
Nara - Day 3 (January 7th, 2010):

On my last day I decided to visit Horyuji Temple (法隆寺), although it's a little bit outside of central Nara.
Thus, most people who visit Nara on a day trip probably won't have a chance to go here. I still think it's worth a visit, but judge for yourself!

Again, the weather was not really good
, please try to ignore that fact, if possible (^-^') ...

Hōryū-ji (法隆寺, lit. Temple of the Flourishing Law) is a Buddhist temple in Ikaruga, Nara Prefecture, Japan. Its full name is Hōryū Gakumonji (法隆学問寺), or Learning Temple of the Flourishing Law, the complex serving as seminary and monastery both. The temple's pagoda is widely acknowledged to be of the oldest wooden buildings existing in the world, underscoring Hōryū-ji's place as one of the most celebrated temples in Japan.

One of the scary looking guardians.

And here's the other.

Main temple complex + the pagoda.

The kondō, located side-by-side to the Pagoda in Sai-in, is widely regarded as the other oldest wood building extant in the world.

I was fascinated by that tree (O___O')

I love to take photos of "do not take photos" signs *looooooooooool* XD ... although usually I'm too scared to actually do it XD

Actually this reminds me more of Ancient Rome than Japan, no?!

Although I didn't love the crappy weather, I DO love the colors in this picture (*__*)v
The building is called "Yumedono (Hall of Dreams)".
Yumedono is one of the main constructions in the Tō-in area, built on the ground which was once Prince Shōtoku's private palace, Ikaruga no miya. The present incarnation of this hall was built in 739 to assuage the Prince's spirit.

Now guess, why I took that picture?! I give you a hint. The reason can be found in the lower left corner of the pic XD

It was about noon and there were still some things I wanted to check out before leaving Nara, so I decided to go back to central Nara.
I loved the electronic train sign there (*_*)v .... Yeah, I DO live in an inaka, so I rarely get to see those XD

Back in Nara, close to the park, I decided to have lunch.
Hot soba noodle soup with many yummie extras (*__*)v It was awesome! <3

Down at the pond again, next to Koufukuji which gives you a nice view of the pagoda of the temple <3
Actually my destination this time was not Koufukuji for a 5th time, but something else: walking through Naramachi I wanted to get to Gangoji Temple (元興寺):
Originally founded by Sogano-Umako at Asuka (south of Nara) as the first Buddhist temple in Japan(!!!) was called Hokoji Temple.
It's a World Heritage Site!

So far it looks quite normal, but Gokurakubo Hall still remains since ~700!!! So it's quite old!

1000 stone buddhas: naa~, not sure I didn't count them XD

Also very spectacular was the roof!
More stone buddhas ^-^

Then, I was on my way to the Nara National Museum and found this XD

Yes, as you might remember from one of my last Nara entries, cars really have to be careful, because the deer don't care about traffic rules XD
The museum itself was really interesting!!! Very huge, a lot of explanations in English and a lot of artefacts and interesting things!!! Unfortunately photos were not allowed. There were a LOT OF security guards in there, it felt kind of strange, but just shows that there were a lot of national treasures in there :)

When I finally left the museum, it was already getting dark.

The sky looked really beautiful, so I had to take a few shots :)

And then I went to my hotel, grabbed my luggage and went to Osaka. Nothing much to do there after 8pm. Most department stores were about to close, so I just got something to eat and went back to the hotel in order to sleep.
The next entry will already be my last of my winter vacation 2009/2010. I can't believe that in 2 weeks I'll already be on my next vacation. Although it's only a week, I'm extremely looking forward to it.
So far spring vacation has always been my fav Japan vacation time plus my friends from Germany are coming to visit me for the first time (*____*)v

Goodbye Nara!♪
Hope you enjoyed the entry although there were not so many photos this time.
