My new laptop! <3

Okay, hello, hello!~

Finally I have some time to show you my new shiny (well, not really! XD) laptop!!!
As you all know I had to wait for it like what seemed to be forever! It was supposed to arrive on July 14th at the latest and in the end it came on the 26th (at a time when I was so busy that I didn't really get to touch it until the 29th!!!!!!) *sigh*

Anyways, waiting is finally over and here we go!!~

Here you can see new vs. old. The new one is on the left side.
It's a 15.6'' vs. my old 15''!
I'm not a fan of widescreens, but for 15'' there's no other option anymore nowadays, huh?
But I already got used to it (^^)

As you can see I got the Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad in the end.
Just in case you were wondering, my old Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite and as you can see it's still working it was just extreeeemely slow and a lot of things stopped working properly. But it was good for 5 years non-stop service, so no worries :D

Although it's really difficult to see in the photo, the Thinkpad definitely has the better screen. I was sooo worried about screen quality, but of course newer laptops have better screens
I'm so happy I paid more to get the matte version

Although I ordered the laptop in Japan, I had the option to choose between an English or a Japanese keyboard. I'd have gotten a German one, but that was not an option XD
Typing works well. Of course I still have to get used to the keyboard, but it feels nice. Typing is louder than with my old laptop, but it's okay. Feels more like typing on an actual PC keyboard now.
I switched to a German keyboard layout and now I have difficulties finding the right keys when I want to type special keys, some seem not to be available at all. Then I switch to Japanese XD
Although I have an English keyboard I have no English input installed right now *g* (maybe I should, though XD)
The cool thing about having a Japanese laptop is that I didn't have to install Japanese language support or anything at all!!! It's already default!! Really awesome ^^;

Here's my old laptop's keyboard (German).
I can't say much about the mouse-/trackpad as I don't really use it.

The laptop came with a Japanese OS, but thanks to "Vistalizator" a program that some of you suggested (thanks again!!!) I have a German OS now (^^')v
I was also able to install my old German Microsoft Office 2003!!! I was worried that it wouldn't be compatible with a Japanese Windows 7, but it works just fine!!!

By now I've installed all programs I need and they run without problems (most of the time).
There was an issue at the beginning, but that had nothing to do with my laptop but with Windows 7 in general.
My eyes started hurting after only using the laptop for a few minutes.
I thought it might be the resolution (I have HD 1600x900) and I also reduced the brightness.
After a while I noticed that it's the font that looks so strange and was just too hard to read! (here are some examples of what I'm talking about)
It's a common problem with Windows 7 and Vista, but I found a solution here. (just in case anybody has similar problems).
Now everything works fine! :D

So far I really like Windows 7.
My old laptop had Windows XP, so I've never ever seen Vista. As most of you know it's a big jump from XP to 7 and there's still a lot of things I have to learn!!!
A lot of things are not where they used to be!
I love Aero and everything about it, though. Some of the things are very similar to a Mac!!!!
If you hover over the programs you've opened it will show you a preview of it! You can even control some programs in preview mode (e.g. Winamp)!!
You can pin programs to the taskbar. It's really convenient!

If there's more than one window open in a program it'll look like that and by clicking on the window you wanna use, you get quick access to all your files or programs. Very nice!!!
Even video preview is possible, so sometimes I surf the internet and just hover over a video that's on right now to see what's going on in the small preview window XDDDDD

Here you can see the difference in size. The Lenovo is wider (widescreen) but not as "high" as the old 15'' Toshiba.
I can't say which one is handier, but the Lenovo feels a little bit lighter!!

Have yet to check if the Lenovo fits into my old laptop bag or if it's too wide.
If so, I need to purchase a new bag as well (^^;;) .. byebye moneyZ!!

As you can see they're pretty much equally thick! :)

As for performance (the main reason why I needed and wanted a new laptop) the Lenovo is awesome so far!!!
4GB Ram and the new i5 CPU are really fast!!!
So far programs all run smoothly and a few times faster than before!! The difference is REALLY huge!! I hope it'll stay like that for a while. That's why I spent so much money to get one of the newest processors out there that won't be outdated too soon!

The fan is quiet and it doesn't get hot at all! Especially compared to my old Toshiba!!
The problems that were reported and the ones I was worried about, yes, my ThinkPad has it, too, but it's by far not as bad as I thought.
A little bit of a keyboard flex and the high pitched noise most likely coming from the CPU. I was soooo worried about that noise. It's barely noticeable!!! You really need to sit in a very quite room, get your ear close to the laptop and then you'll hear it. I hope it stays like this.

So far I'm really happy with my new laptop. I hope it'll work so fast and without problems for a while now! :D
There might be some problems performing Windows Updates, because the native OS is Japanese, but I installed a German one over it.
Apart from that, it should be okay :)

And that's it for my new laptop.
Thanks for reading and waiting so long with me

Meanwhile I'm still trying to fight the heat.
I have the feeling that it's getting hotter every day! No kidding!
There were a few days last week when it was cloudy and windy, so it was a bit nicer to be outside, but now we're back to sunny weather (x__X)
In order to stay cool, I drink a looooooooooooooooooooot. Mainly water, but I always also drink other things and I love to try out new things such as

New Starbucks: Orange Chocolate (have yet to try!)
Sunkist!! (HOMG! Didn't know they have this in Japan as well! ^^)
Yuzu juice! Sooooo yummie!!!! It's from Kochi! I wonder why I didn't try this when I was in Kochi last year!! I wanna drink it again (*_*)v

I'm also fighting the heat and monster mosquitoes on Poupee!!! My Poupee week:

I really like that yukata! I'm still thinking about buying one for real, but I'm too stupid to get dressed up by myself ;o; ......

I love pastel colors (*___*)v

I'm bloody serious!!!! (x_x)凸

I can't believe that I'll already have summer vacation next week around this time!!
Time sure runs fast, especially if you have so many problems to solve every day (O_O'') ...
Anyways, I'm really looking forward to it!!!
I can't believe that Nagoya is even hotter than here! I read something about 36°C!!! I can't even imagine it to be hotter than now!! (x__X) ...
Last preperations still need to be done, though.
I'm still not sure what to take with me on Mt. Fuji. (clothes!) Any suggestions?
I don't really wanna spend a lot of money and get stuff I never wear again.

Alright, that's it!
Thanks a lot for reading! (^-^)/~
