[Life]: Permanent Pain is Ruining My Days

I'm in permanent pain and it sucks so much!

I already mentioned it in my previous entry, but in the past few days it has become worse and worse.
AND I have no freaking idea what is going on!!

My neck and shoulders are stiff and hurt.
Well, that happens sometimes, right? I had that many times before and usually it gets better again after some time without me doing anything.

This time however it's not just my neck and my shoulders, it's also my back, my hip AND the inner side of my left thigh!!!! o_____O'''
The latter one really doesn't make any sense.

At first I thought I maybe had sore muscles, but it just didn't get better at all. In fact, it has gotten worse. And it's only the upper left thigh!!!

I researched a little and there actually seems to be a connection between pain in the thigh(s) and back pain.
However, if you have pain in only one of thighs on the inner side, then it usually comes from playing soccer. WTF????

I swear I haven't done ANYTHING recently that could have caused it!!
Maybe I'm sleepwalking?

"Luckily" my thigh only hurts when I walk or when I touch the muscle(s) there. It's ok when I sit.
However, the rest of my upper body hurts all the time, especially my shoulders and my back. I can't even tell if it's the bones or the muscles, but I guess it's all the muscles.

The issue is that I CAN'T go to a doctor / clinic anymore before I leave for Germany.
I have 3 more days at work and am also busy before work. Then, I have Sunday off and I'm flying on Monday.

I'm just worried how I can manage to survive in Germany with all that pain. It's not a strong pain, but I'm exhausted, cuz it's a permanent pain, no matter what I'm doing, it's always there.
Even if I could go to a doctor before I have to leave, I'm not sure if they could help me right away. And in the worst case I would be told to stay here and not to go to Germany.

I have no idea what's going on, nor do I know what I should do now.

I know that this can have a million of reasons and depending what causes it, there are different ways to deal with it.
But for now, I fear all I can do is bear it somehow.

The pain makes me really exhausted as you can imagine and I have a hard time getting through my day.
Obviously I won't be able to enjoy my stay in Germany like this. It's going to be more like a "survival game".

I wonder why this has to happen NOW ....... I haven't been back home in 2.5 years, you know? :( .......

I am in great sympathy with you. I have been a sufferer myself of similar pains, and have sciatica.

However, there are many possible causes for the pains you describe. You can have pulled muscles, strained muscles, a pinched nerve, etc. Frankly, my best recommendation is to take aspirin, if you are not allergic to it. It is a great pain killer and anti inflammatory. If you can't take aspirin, then tylenol [paracetamol], but it is not as effective. This would at least help you through your vacation. You may not like to take pills, but isn't that better than a ruined vacation?

And you will have to see a doctor when you get back. There can be some minor problem with your spine, for instance. Two different factors can be causing the pains. You may be given a range of exercises to ease the pain.

If you look on the web, you will just see a range of possibilities, and suggestions by sufferers not medically trained, not to speak of charlatans. An informed medical opinion is what you need!

Of course, I'll go to a doctor as soon as I'm back. That's out of the question.
Unless, of course, the pain is gone by then.

I can take aspirin. In fact, it's the only pain killer I usually take as it works great for me.
I'm just not sure about taking it every day for 2 weeks, though.

I had to look up "sciatica" as I've never heard of it before. It sounds pretty bad.
I'm sorry you have to suffer, too. :(

I just hope it's nothing too bad and that it can be "treated" somehow. I know that there are many, many people with back pains.

Thanks so much for your comment! :)

aspirin isnt good pain killer. and never use it in flu. after what you have pain?

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com 2013-12-21 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
For me it works very well when I have a headache or stomachache etc. :)

It will do you no harm to take aspirin regularly. for just that length of time. The limit is 12 a day for the full strength tablets, which I seriously doubt you will reach. Aspirin thins your blood a bit, which would mean you will be less at risk for circulation problems brought by lengthy sitting on an air plane. It also means they ask you to stop taking it before operations and tooth extractions. I wouldn't worry!

The aspirin's anti inflammatory effect may be a curative one for your problems.

Well, I wanted to take it before my flight anyways for exactly the reason you named.
I also need to take meds against my motion sickness! ^^;; ....

Thanks. Glad to know. I still always try to take meds only if absolutely necessary! :)

See if you can find an hour to go to a chiropractor before you leave. I know that your time is crunched, but when I started having pain, my back was the cause. It's happened twice-- the first time it eventually went mostly away after a week, and then came back ten times worse, twice!! I went to the chiropractor and it took a month to clear the pain.

The second time that it happened, I went into the chiropractor on the same day, and two days later I was pain-free. It's imperative that you do it right away, or else the nerves that are getting pinched will become inflamed and it will hurt you a lot more.

That might not be your problem, but the back can affect a lot of other areas, including your hips, and it may be the cause. Especially at our ages. Since it's not the hospital, and there are tons of chiropractors everywhere, you should be able to get into one without much or any waiting.

One of my Japanese co-workers spent half the day at a clinic as her daughter had a similar issue.
I doubt there are any chiropractors without a long waiting time around here. You forget that I don't live in a big city. ;)
I'd go if I had the time to, I swear. :( ....

I understand that it's better to go soon.
If it gets worse, I'll try to see a doc in 2 days in the morning which is the ONLY choice I really have in terms of "available time".

I'm sorry to hear you had to go through something similar. :(

Don't go to a clinic-- go to a chiropractor who has a private practice. There were more than 10 of them just near the station in my tiny rural place in Kawagawa. You can also call ahead and make an appointment, so that you don't have to wait.

very good idea. some time, you can fix back pain for only one visit. my mother cant walk 2 weeks(clamped nerve spinal discs), and she up after 30 min visit of doctor(he move disc to right place). after, she has many procedures, of course, like massages and Acupuncture, but, she can walk without pain and any symptoms. ask doctor, dont wait. its very serious.

Just one note about chiropractors: they are not all good! Some are nothing more than charlatans. So I think it would be important to check credentials and reputation.

yes, yes, yes. in Ukraine - same this situation :(. if you find your chiropractor you are very lucky.

I wonder if it's the same in Germany. Really have no idea.

[identity profile] leviosa8.livejournal.com 2013-12-20 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Please do go to a doctor in Germany immediately when you arrive. From all I have heard, and also read from you, I wouldn't trust Japanese doctors anymore to find a cure for all your successive ailments. Take lots of care and enjoy your homeland!

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com 2013-12-21 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
It's true that this year I've been sick way too often.
Especially if I compare myself to my co-workers. They don't wear masks, they don't gargle, they don't was their hands as often as I do.
In the past few weeks I wore a mask every day, gargled several times a day and washed my hands carefully and yet I got sick yet again. Just came back from the doctor.

Not sure if that's still normal, but I can't consult a doctor in Germany. Health insurances for abroad only pay if it's something you didn't have prior to your departure.

Thanks, I'll try to enjoy it! ^^;

Ah, but how would they know? Could be something you got from the cramped flight? Sounds like a nerve though. I have the thigh thing sometimes, but it usually goes away within a week at most. There are creams that heat up maybe try some of those on your back before you go to sleep, they help a lot to relieve the pain. There's tons in Japan and a few in Germany as well or you can ask at the pharmacy. They're not too expensive. Just take one that heats up there are also creams that cool.

Have a good flight!

I am so sorry :( its not fair not since you're going on holidays. I would say why not try the doctors in Germany, surely your family's doctor wouldn't mind seeing you and see what's going on. So far you haven't had a good success with Japanese doctors, and they could provide a completely different point of view, could either work or not.

Second, is to go and try and see chiropractor. They are wonders with back, and spine is one of the biggest issues, and could solve a lot of problems. However I am not really experience on this and only hope you do get better <3. Happy holidays :)

klingt nach ziemlich üblen Verspannungen. Ich denke ein Physiotherapeut könnte da helfen.
