[Japan Travel]: Nagoya Day - 3

Hello again!

I'm completely immersed in my Japanese studies and ridiculously busy with work as well, so sorry for the lack of entries and comments.
Thanks so much to everyone who took part in the poll. If you haven't yet, please definitely do so!!
I'll write an extra entry about it and the (possible) consequences some other time.

Today I just drop by to FINALLY post another travel entry! Yay!~
Like I wrote in my last travel entry this was actually the day when my brother and me planned to climb Mt. Fuji but due to a typhoon the trip had to be cancelled.
We wanted to go Gifu or Inuyama instead (because that also was on our list and we wouldn't have any other days left to do it if we postponed our Mt. Fuji trip), but then it was raining cats and dogs, so we had to cancel that also :( :( :(

Instead we just walked around in Nagoya, mainly for shopping.
But before that - and after a short night of replanning our Mt. Fuji trip we had to get up so that we could be at the bus center by 6:30am to cancel our tickets before the actual bus leaves.
We were sooo lucky that they accepted our cancelation because of the typhoon and we only had to pay a 200yen (~2$) cancelation fee! :D

Nagoya Day 3 (August 12th, 2010):

My brother discovered typical Japanese sweets and couldn't stop taking photos XD
He was so curious that in the end he bought some (and me, too XD)

And what can I say? They (mochi filled with different types of cream!!❤) were extremely yummie!! :D

Here's part of the variety! Awesome, huh?

They also had yummie and cute donuts!! :3

We went to a museum. It was still raining. Photos inside of the museum were not allowed.
As you might have noticed I didn't use my DSLR that day. I knew that there wouldn't be anything worth taking a photo of with my better camera anyways and because it was raining cats and dogs it was also safter to leave the Pentax behind :)

After our museum visit it was already time for lunch.
That's what I got. They had lots of yummie stuff, so I had a really hard time deciding.

My brother, too, who got something with a tofu burger (me loves!!!) in the end (*__*)v

Finally it stopped raining (but as you can see the weather was still quite horrible ... *sigh*)
We decided to go to the second best castle in Nagoya: Kiyosu Castle (清洲城)!~
It's really only a short ride from the center of Nagoya and it's definitely worth visiting! Highly recommended!!! :3

I especially loved the bridge that leads the way to the castle. As it was a little bit outside of the center of Nagoya it was really a quiet, inaka-like atmosphere there!! So lovely!! And no foreign tourists at all (*_*)v

View from the highest floor. As you can see it's a really quiet, small, clean castle.
Might be one of my favorite castles (of the smaller ones - that is *g*)

Although I said it's inaka-like, the Shinkansen railroad is right next to the castle *g*

One of the symbols of Nagoya again :D

The sun is trying to break through ;o;

The castle from the outside. Really nice :)

The small Japanese garden next to the castle was nice, too.

Sorry, but you know that I just can't stop castle-photo-spamming once I started, right? ;P

Hello, nice weather, you're still here? -___-;

And goodbye castle!!!~ ... I REALLY loved that red bridge XD
Why can't I have such a nice and lovely castle near where I live?? :(

Wow, it seems that the sun managed to break through after all!!! (O__O')v

Beetle spotted! Nice color :)

And this is one of the annoying cicadas! By the way they're still loud at night even now although it's almost October!!! (O_o'') ....

On our way back from the castle to the station. I just loved that scene, so I had to take a photo ^^;

Back in Nagoya, we went shopping again. I wanted to buy a yukata. My first yukata ever.
My brother was curious and came with me and helped me pick out stuff in the end.
As always the people there thought that he was my boyfriend and not my brother *lol* XD
They praised him for being handsome(?!) and nice because he's willing to hang out with his sister and even help her pick out a yukata and stuff XD *lol*
The people in the store were REALLY nice!!

My brother took photos of some posters in that shop XD

Of course, for him that all was so new! XD
I like the second yukata from the left. I generally like black with pink/purple flowers :)
Mine is purple/darkblue with pinkish flowers :) (see here)

This was also a pretty awesome store!!! I could spend hours in those stores, staring at especially the Maneki neko statues (*__*)b

Sunset time and as you can see here we went shopping next to the Osu Kannon Temple.

The sky color was really nice. Well, at least something after a quite eventless day :( (especially if you consider that this was supposed to be the day when we climb Mt. Fuji!!! *sigh*)

And then it got dark :) Now my Pentax would have been handy, but oh well *g*

Random photo on our way back to the hotel. I wonder who can eat such big shaved ice bowls? O__O; ....

Back at the hotel I called some mountain huts again but they said that the weather was still not good and it was still dangerous because of the typhoon.
So we decided to try our luck and go to Inuyama and Gifu the next day (which we now had to manage in ONE day - almost impossible!!!!!!) and then try Mt. Fuji on our last 2 days. Very risky, but we didn't have any other choice anyways .....

Next up: Gifu and Inuyama (2 awesome cities with 2 awesome castles) - and finally good weather!!

Stay tuned and thanks for reading!~

P.S.: Lately I have problems uploading to Youtube (which is why I used Dailymotion in my last post) and now Photobucket is also starting to be bitchy :( No idea what's wrong. I stopped uploading to my LJ scrapbook, because I didn't have a software under Windows 7 (it worked superfast under XP back in the days) ... after wasting lots of time I finally found a solution!
