[Photos]: New green teas ! ^-^

Hey there! ^-^/

I´ve ordered some new green teas online.
I´ve never tried out these, so I was curious! :)

I´ve ordered 3 different Kabuse teas: Bancha, Hojicha, Kukicha. I´ve only tried Bancha up till now. I love it a lot, so I´ve ordered it again this time. And I´ve ordered one Sencha (second flush).
Here they are:

I´ve only tried the sencha so far. It´s not as good as I expected it to be. I´ve already drunk better senchas! But I guess I´ll have to vary the amount of tea leaves I use and the time I let the leaves in the water (^-^;)

One of my fav Japanese green teas is Genmaicha. It wasn´t in this package I ordered, this is an older photo:

It´s REALLY yummie!!!!! (*-*)b TRY IT! XD

For those of you that are interested in green tea in general, I´ve scanned s.th. in (it´s in different languages XD):

Whut? Not much caffeine? (T-T) ... OOiii~ I need caffeine!!!!! XD
Does somebody know what´s the Japanese tea with the most caffeine? Is it ma(t)cha?? ('-*)>

I wonder what the Japanese on the right side says ... XD .. I only can read Keiko and the Katakana XDDDDD *coughs*

I´m curious: If there are any (Japanese) green tea freaks fans out there could you tell me YOUR way of making green tea?
What is the best way in your opinion?
Some Japanese people seem to do it this way:
Put the leaves in a teapot, pour water on it, brew it and then LET THE LEAVES IN THE WATER IN THE TEAPOT! ... Use a filter while pouring the tea into your cup.
It´s not very good if you try this with high quality Japanese tea, because it becomes bitter very FAST!!!!
So my way is this:
I use a filter for the leaves right away. I put the filter into the teapot and pour water in it. I brew it, then I remove the filter with the leaves and that´s it!!!
I usually don´t make a second or third extraction(?), do you??

I´m looking forward to hearing your opinions and experiences about this!
Thanks a lot in advance *bows* XD

Acutally at the moment I am pretty much into Chai, and since I am to lazy to go through that procedure every single time I love to drink black tea.
But this far no one told me that there is such a big difference between brewing black and green tea since both can become bitter or lose their effect if you do it wrong.... I think. o_O''

Anyway:
There is a really usefull invention, the so called "Tee-Ei"

I rarely drink loose tea at all, but when I do I am really fond of these things. *g*

By the way:
You acually order your tea online? o_O
We have at least 5 of these alternative stores in our town, which at one point or the other tried to sell "Öko-Fashion". Two of them turned into "tea only" shops.
I would not even think about ordering tea online since I love the smell in these shops all to much o_O And with 5 different stores you are kinda safe to assume that you will find what you search for. And if everything else fails: Müller has a number of teas in it's assortment. *tries desperately not to grin*
Is it a special web side or did you find a "dealer" on Ebay you trust? ^_^;;

I do the let-the-leaves-in-the-teapot thing, but the teapot has a filter where it pours, so only the small leaves get past. :) We always make Maeda-en, since that's what we have lying around...

I set up a filter with the tea in it, heat the water to somewhere between 165 and 180, pour some in the pot to heat it, dump out the water from the pot, put the filter in the pot, brew it for 3-3.5 minutes, and remove the filter. Mainly because I'm a poor college student and I tend to make A LOT of tea I make a second extraction, but not a third.

Actually, for a lot of green teas, the second infusion is better than the first! For most green teas, I'll do the first infusion around 175°F for 2 minutes, the second for 3 minutes, and the third for 4-5 minutes. I use the same kind of filter as you do. I've found that flavored teas (green or black) don't tend to rebrew terribly well, so for flavored green teas, I do one infusion at 3 minutes.

As for the caffeine issue, I really don't know which green has the most. Though if you're interested in experimenting with black teas, you might find flavored black tea to be more palatable at first.

I'm actually not very fond of tea. Bad memories of it as a child. I tasted some of it from my mom's cup and since she doesn't put any sugar in it, it tasted nasty...and I've avoided tea since then. Like mustard. Thought it was honey and squirted a bunch of it onto my tongue and *barf*...Lol...

But I've really wanted to try Green Tea...since like...forever! XD;;; Even though one of my friends did say it tasted like grass...but I think they were talking about the cheap ones you get at like Tim Hortans or something...teehee! My teacher actually told me about the really expensive one she bought...I think it was a pound for $100 and supposedly it tasted really good so I realllyyy wanna try it. XDv You make it sound so yummy too.

You know the only tea I think I can actually stand so far has been Bubble Tea. Probably cause it has the word Bubble in it so it sounds less evil...but I love it. And since I live in Canada and it's really popular here, I can get it from anywhere. Yayz~ XD

Ah, und ein Freund hat mir was erklärt was vielleicht hilft dein Aufbrüh-Problem zu lösen. ^^
Und der zweite Aufguß ist dann eben sehr mild. Anscheined ist es dann auch in Ordnung wenn der länger zieht... oder so... ^_^;;

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

You ordered green tea? o_o
It isn't available in your country? >___<;; Was it expensive though? :o hehehe. i love drinking green tea too though i'm not that particular on how you brew it and the suchs. Most of the time the ones i drink are from the satchets. Haha, not really tea leaves and the such. :)
