[Japan Travel]: Kagoshima - Day 2
Yay, finally some time to post again ^-^;

This time I'll show you my second day in Kagoshima and I just realized that it's been almost exactly 3 months already. Time sure is running fast *sigh*
Kagoshima - Day 2 (August 15th, 2008):
This was actually the day I decided to take it easy meaning no real plans for that day as my body hurt and I was really tired, so I really wanted to take a little break. That day was pretty interesting (and random) nevertheless ^^

I slept a little bit longer than usually and then went directly to the station as there were some huge department stores, Starbucks, a cinema etc. When I came there everything was still closed (that's Japan for ya) and so I stopped by Starbucks first. A lot of people were already waiting in front of the stores.

Then they finally opened. I went into the largest one right at the station and everywhere you went to the shop assistants were friendly greeting you (they were still all standing in fron of their small shops and bowing as we all entered. Amazing! If you've never done it before I really recommend entering a HUGE department store in Japan when they're just opening in the "morning" :D

Random shot: Mumins at Kagoshima station ^-^

After shopping for a while (I remember buying the Hana Yori Dango final (movie) novel), I left the department store again and with that I left the station, too, taking some photos on my way.

I just walked and walked. The weather was nice, too :)

I can't recall who this guy was as I really just walked by there anyway ^^; ....

I love this picture (*___*) ... (Narnia anyone? XD)

I went through a (pretty empty park) and then found this somewhat famous bridge, but then decided it's time to go back and try the other direction ^^;

Which brought me to the Meiji Restoration museum ^-^;

The museum was pretty interesting and modern (compared to some other museums I've been to so far).

Of course there was a lot of Satsuma's history involved ^^; ....

That was actually pretty cool. Every ... 45 minutes or so they had an electronic, spacy, whatever show there that taught you more historical details. The room was dark then and then you had the famous people show up as huge puppets talking and blah XD ... they gave me earplugs for English input XDDD *lol*
It was a little bit too much for my little brain as I've never bothered with this part of Japan's history before ^^; ... but it was interesting *nods nods*

I think I've mentioned this in one of my previous entries?! ... Cannons wherever you go ^^; ...

Even through computer games you could learn about history here :D

And goodbye museum. I was hungry, it was noon anyway. I decided to go back to the station to the huge dep. store because I figured there would be tons of restaurants as well.

There were, but also tons of people. I really had to search for almost an hour and then wait for a while, but in the end I got a pretty decent lunch :D
Me just loves raw fish, I can't help it ^^;; ....

After lunch I decided to ride the big wheel which you could see in on of the previous photos. There were only TWO of these completely transparent gondolas and I decided to go for one of these, because you also could watch what's down to your feet. Of course that meant waiting for quite a long while, but I didn't mind - price was the same anyway XD

That's a normal one. In the background you can see Sakurajima again ^^

And it was finally my turn. Of course I took photos like crazy, but the windows were reflecting too much ;o; ....

After my tour with the big wheel I was standing in fron of the cinema which was right next to it anyway and was REALLY thinking about going in and watch the new Naruto Shippuden movie, but then I thought the weather is too great for that and that I still can watch it some other time ^^;
(btw. I could only find a torrent link to that movie so far, anyone knows if there are direct downloads available already?)

Walking back to the entrance of the huge department store I also came across this Jpop-Café XD

Anyway I decided it's time to finally visit the Dolphin Port which is close to the Ferry Terminal I was the day before.

Dolphin Port has nothing to do with dolphins, but is a great spot in Kagoshima, close to the sea, great view of Sakurajima, tons of small shops, cafés, restaurants etc. ^^

Aww, it was so cute, I just couldn't resist ^^; ...

Cute kids taking a bath XD .. basically that's just meant for your feet, but .. whatever XD

And I found Nemo once again XD (in the background the Ferry Terminal and the Aquarium).

And Sakurajima again :)

Gawd, it was really like paradise! I miss Kagoshima ;o; ....

What was really cool (and what I didn't know) there was also a Atsuhime museum at the Dolphin Port. Tickets were not cheap, but I was curious and went in ^^; (yes, although I've only watched one episode, but at least I know and love most of the actors XD ...)

There were a lot of pics, info about the actors etc., but of course taking pics wasn't allowed. I was fangirling because of all the Eita stuff in there XDDDD
As you can see Japanese women could also dress up like that and then their family took photos of them (and I took some photos, too, as this was the only spot where we were allowed to take photos XD) ...

And that was a cute little girl who wanted to try it, too <33

Is it just me or does the L movie come to your mind?! o__O .... XD

Sakurajima is kind of sulking XD

I needed a break again and stopped by a really cool place. Later I found out that they only exist in Kagoshima and Tokyo ;o; ..... KOOTS I love you!!! <3333

Random shot in front of Dolphin Port when I was leaving, isn't that just too cute? ;P

And I went straight to the shopping district. It was already getting kind of dark anyway ^^; .... (and I wanted to return to Dolphin Port one more time at night to take night shots!).

But before that I went to Animate (*___*) ... yes, that was kind of a shopping day, I guess XD

Just walking through one of the shopping arcades.

Yay, finally it was dark! On my way back to Dolphin Port I took a photo of this cute illuminated pond :D

I love it when I somehow manage to take night shots where you actually still can RECOGNIZE things! XDDD

Hello, Dolphin Port, it's me again (^^') ....

Yeah, more illuminated stuff. It was really cool there :D

Then I went to the sea and just enjoyed it for a while before I returned to my hotel.
That was not my last time at Dolphin Port, though. On Day 3 (which will hopefully come soon XD) I also went there at night XDDD
Only 2 more days left (Kagoshima Day 3 and Kokura Day 1) and that's it.
Thanks for looking ^-^/
Anybody fell in love with Kagoshima? Well, I did *nods*
Now it's time for cappu and strawberry shortcake <3
Bye-chu~

Wow..Japan's mountains are so lovely and magnificant! *__*
I like wandering around alone too; did that when I went Taipei. T ravelling around alone sounds kinda lonely to some, but I just love the freedom.
Will be anticipating my turn in Japan this December! (^^)
Thank you for the lovely photos! ;)
no subject
Yes, at first I thought it might be boring travelling alone, but it was actually relaxing and a lot of fun :)
Oh, where exactly will you be in December? And how long will you be staying? ^^
no subject
Will be there from 15 Dec to 04 Jan~ Y(^^)Y
I'll be hopping around; but the longest I will stay will probably be in Nagoya.
Where are you staying? I may need your help to show me around, if you don't mind (^^;)
no subject
I probably will be in Tokyo for some time, but that's still quite far from Nagoya o_o.

OMG, das Essen ;__;. Bin gerade wieder
voll im jap. Kochen und versuche meinen
Schotten dafür zu begeistern.
UND moah..... du hattest tolles Wetter.
no subject
Bin mir sicher, dass du ihn dafür begeistern kannst ... ich mein, wie kann man jap. Essen denn bitte widerstehen? XD
Ich hoffe du hast Spaß auf den Geburtstagsfeiern *hug*

That statue with the lion really does look like it's from Narnia! Wow! That is a totally cool shot!
You know, I haven't seen much of the L Saves the World. *goes to look for it* L is the best, isn't he? ^___^ *grin*
Your purchase from Koots looks so good!! >__< I have to go there some day! *is now hungry*
*goes to look for Naruto Shippuden Movie* I don't think it's been subbed yet. I could download it off of torrent and then part the files and upload it to Mediafire for you. But I have no idea how long that will take, nor how good the quality, ect, would be...

I'm behind, too. I wanted to finish the on-yomi by the end of October and I'm not even half-through right now x___X (~ 800 kanji so far) *sigh*
How's your study going?
no subject
i'm still doing the meanings, at 675 now. and i'm doing okay with my japanese class.
And as for vocab.. i think i know about 80% of the words for JLPT 3 now. But the kanji are a bit different because RTK has this different order and now i'm not sure what i should do.. i think i'm just going to continue rtk, but i also feel that i have to practice the jlpt kanji list. Which is a bit harder because of that strange order they have. At least i know 80% of those kanji as well.
What about you? you're not doing jlpt are you? ah! still need to book my tickets :S
no subject
No, I'm not taking part. I don't want to spend so much money for JLPT3 and I can't pass 2kyuu yet. I probably might fail 3kyuu, too, as I've never taken the test format before XD

no subject
sorry.. but are you in a teaching program right now? LOL. I'm so behind on things -___-"
the food... looking amazingly delicious as usuall..
can't wait for your next post of photos XD
