Being a die hard traveler, yet feeling I need a rest when I get back, I understand your feelings.

My own trip to Kawaguchiko was a disaster: only one whole day there, and it rained hard the whole time. Of course the sun was out when I left, and as usual, I saw Fuji-san from the shinkansen. I have been to Takayama twice. Once in the fall: chilly but sunny; and once for the festival: it rained hard enough they canceled it and one had to go admire the floats in their depots....lol. That festival attracts a lot of people: get a room well in advance if you want to go.

You have seen so many castles! Frankly after a while there is a certain sameness about these Japanese castles. I have to admit that I much prefer the original ones, and hardly bother with the others. I mean, Europe is full of wonderful castles, all very different from one another, so it has made me pickier. Do you really need to see another?

I think Nagano would be better during GW. It's high and cold up there!

Anyway, I think a vacation at home can be beneficial and relaxing. You mentioned, to my surprise, that you don't like planning. Well, here's is your chance to seize a pretty day and go off for a day trip somewhere!

You have seen more of Japan than most Japanese! RELAX !!!
