[Japan Travel]: Shimonoseki
Hello

As you know I'm super busy and will be extremely busy in November, so before this gets outdated, I thought I better post it NOW!!!
So, here's the last travel entry of my summer vacation 2010!~

This trip my brother and me did when I was already back at work. My brother stayed for a few days while travelling alone. Then, when I finally had a day off, we went on yet another trip together.
This time to a spot that connects Honshu (the main island) with Kyushu: Shimonoseki

Shimonoseki (August 19th, 2010):

Let the journey begin!~ )

Where Honshu meets Kyushu! )

Be aware: Blowfish invasion!!! )

After that we went back home.
My brother had to leave the next day. I think he really enjoyed Japan but did regret that he came during summer. Next time he'd love to come in spring which is a good idea, I think XDDD
Probably he won't have enough money to come again, though ;o;

And that's the end of my travel entries .... no, of course NOT!!! Just of the ones about my summer vacation 2010!!!
There's a small surprise awaiting you! Not sure when I'll be able to post about it, though.
Stay tuned.

Am off to bed now (x____x)/~

[Japan Travel]: Nagoya - Day 1
Hello again!

First of all thank you very much for your nice and cute comments to my last entry. I was really happy to read them all
I finished sorting out my photos, so I can finally start my summer vacation travel entries. This time it was not so much work compared to spring. In spring I used both cameras, my old digital camera and my brandnew DSLR camera. I came back with over 5000 photos, that was just crazy.
This time I mainly used my DSLR, so no doubles, sorting out went much smoother.
Some of you might have noticed, there's a small change in this travel entry. So far I've been uploading all my travel photos to my Livejournal Scrapbook, but I decided to create a new photobucket account and try to upload them there instead.
There are many reasons. I still don't have a permanent LJ account, so the travel photos might vanish once I decide to not continue with my paid account. It's a hassle to upload to Scrapbook with Windows 7!
Usually I'm a fan of photobucket, just the bandwidth limit scares me. I've had problems with it in the past (too many people reading my entries / looking at my photos).
The good thing about photobucket is that it's easy and comfortable to upload tons of photos at the same time.
If any of you know a better alternative that is free, has at least 1GB of storage, easy multiple file upload option and unlimited or huge bandwidth limit, then please let me know I really appreciate it.

Anyway, back to the actual entry.
My last day of work was Saturday, so I took off quite early on Sunday morning. I went straight to Nagoya where I intended to stay the whole week with day trips and - of course - the trip to Mt. Fuji.

Nagoya Day 1 (August 8th, 2010):

Let the journey begin!~ )

In the middle of the shopping arcade there was this huge Maneki Neko. Pretty awesome! XD

Some more weird encounters! )

And that was my first day of summer vacation.
Cloudy, rainy and not really eventful, but still nice! Especially the aquarium visit was nice and relaxing.

The next day I had to get up early, because it was time for my first day trip. My destination for day 2: Ise (where a rainstorm surprised me in the end and I got completely soaked down to my shoes/socks and underwear ...)
Hope you're looking forward to the next entry.

Stay tuned and thanks for reading.
Bye☆⌒ヽ(*'、^*)chu

[Japan Travel]: Beppu Day 2
Hello

Thank you all so much for the nice comments to my first day in Beppu. I'm glad you seem to enjoy my travel reports and photos.
Here's now finally day 2 in Beppu which was already my last day (in Beppu!) :(

Beppu - Day 2 (December 30th, 2009):

I should call that day "animal day" as I visited an aquarium and then a monkey park. The second half of the day was quite unpleasant, though.

Umitamago - the ocean egg aquarium XD )

There are monkeys ..... EVERYWHERE!!!! O__O'' )

I love this photo. I took it in order to show everybody that the monkeys were indeed not kept in a cage or anything, but were able to move freely.
Since before World War II, the monkeys have raided nearby famrs and damaged the crops. To prevent this, the late Mr. Ueda, former mayor of Oita City, succeeded in gathering the monkeys at the base of Mt. Takasaki by scattering bait and blowing a conch (a kind of shell horn) in 1952.
The monkeys are Japanese Macaque Macaca Fuscata monkeys by the way.

And now the reasonS why the second half of my day was NOT so great -__- .... )

And that's it. I really enjoyed Beppu although there were some unpleasant things as well.
I definitely wanna go again and try the sand and mud onsen and maybe the safari there and if the weather allows finally have a great view from that high mountain GAH!

Bye~chuu (´∀`*)ノシ ❤

Katsurahama: shrine on a cliff, small aquarium and no food??!! )

Time for dinner: raw tuna <33 )

The next day I got up really early, because I had to catch my bus. Yeah, that's right! I went not by train, but by bus this time!!!
Next stop: Naruto and the awesome whirlpools! (*__*)/

[Japan Photos]: Nijo Castle + Osaka (Castle & Aquarium)
Okay,
finally I have some time to continue the Japan photo picspam!

Nijo Castle:

This was very interesting, although we don´t have much photos of it. You weren´t allowed to take photos INSIDE the castle which was a shame, because it was really impressive.
But the most amazing thing was the floor! It´s a ninja trick and it´s still working: When you walk over the wooden floor you hear the "twitter of nightingales". Those floors are therefore called "nightingale floors".
With this they knew immediately when an enemy was on its way ^-^;

photos of Nijo-jo )

Osaka Castle + Aquarium )

Port of Osaka + Ferris Wheel )

But that´s now really all! XD
