[Germany]: Home, sweet home??!!
Hello everybody!!

I hope you're all fine? Enjoying your summer vacation?
For those who don't read my Twitter I thought I throw in a short update (though I have to admit that I didn't update my Twitter often since I arrived back home ).
Anyways, so I'm back home in Germany for more than a week now.
Only 1 more week to go and I already go back to Japan.

So, because my flight was at midnight and I had to go to Osaka anyways, I decided to go sightseeing during the daytime.
I've been pretty much everywhere in Kansai already, except Wakayama, so that's where I went.
After only 2(!!!) hours of sleep I took the earliest train possible, got rid of my 2 heavy suitcases at Shin-Osaka station and was off to Wakayama.

There, I visited the castle, OF COURSE! (Yay, one more on my list!! ^^)

Wakayama has some other nice sightseeing spots, too, but I didn't have much time :/

I also went to see Tama, the station master cat. Above you see the station building with cat ears! XD

It was soooooooooo hot that day. I was all sweaty and wet the whole time (T___T)
Time for a super yummie strawberry icecream as the area is also famous for strawberries.

Back in Osaka I had a quick, but yummie dinner and then I was already off to the airport.

(A detailed travel report for my day in Wakayama will come another time!)

It was my first time flying with Emirates, but it was really good!
They even had a consent for laptops etc. and a USB port in economy class!!! (*___*)b

You have NO idea how tired I was after only sleeping 2h, then super sightseeing in Wakayama and then almost 24h in airplanes! (x___X) ...
Travelled through 3 different time zones, had 3 breakfasts and was really confused at the end XDDD
Beautiful weather everywhere until we reached Germany .....

After hot, hot Japan, this is what I got back home most of the time.
Almost 20°C less than in Japan!!! Brrrrrrr, cold!!!
A lot of rain, too!

The only day with good weather, I went hiking with my brother again.
No Mt. Fuji for us this year, though! XDD

It was quite a nice hike nevertheless and this time with a better view!!!
Even the cows enjoyed the nice view XD

Some nice sunsets, but I missed them all as I didn't have my camera on me.
All I got was this picture when the sun was already gone ;__;

Most of the time the weather was like this, though.
Well, it doesn't really matter. In fact, it's a nice fresh break from hot, hot Japan! ;P

At least the swan didn't seem to care at all ;)

The thing I missed the most: CATS EVERYWHERE!!!!
I grew up with cats as pets and cats all around me. Back home they're everywhere again!
This one I caught next to our garden when she was trying to catch mice :)

The best thing ever are baby kittens, though!!!!
Awwwww~

Can't wait to visit them again!!! They're only 4 weeks old yet!! :333

Can't wait to have my own again!! Would love to take one to Japan with me, but don't worry I won't be that cruel!! :/

Apart from what you see in the photos, I've been shopping, meeting friends, family, eating yummie food etc.
It's strange to be back home.
The first time in a shopping mall was weird. Surrounded by people who don't stare at you at all and don't give a shit!!! Oh, how much I missed that!!!!
I was really suprised at how nice German people are! For some reason my memory was different.
Second impression: lots of foreigners (not tourists!) everywhere, speaking a language I don't understand, so I don't really feel like I'm back home. Do I make any sense?! XD
There are many things I missed (especially the food!! I think I already gained a few kg because there's just so much I wanna eat!!!! XD).
On the other hand, there are also things that are super annoying.
It might be hard once I go back for good, especially jobwise. I also have the feeling that I will lose my Japanese skills if I'm not careful

Enough of my blabbering. I don't have much time anyways.
I'm gonna get a rental car later today! I haven't driven in FOUR YEARS!!!!!! Wish me luck (x__X) ....
Actually I wanna refresh my traffic rules knowlede a little before I drive for real, so if you guys in Germany have any good websites for German traffic rules for me, then go ahead!! ^-^;

A more detailed report will follow once I'm back in Japan.

Thanks for reading!~

Why is it that you only notice how precious your hometown is when you've been in another country for many years?! ^^;; ...

I am glad your flights were comfortable, because the length of time seems awful. I wouldn't think it would take much over 12 hours [+ some connection time] to fly to Germany from Osaka. What was your route?

You speak of the foreigners when you got home. It's what struck me yet again in Paris. There has been such an influx of immigration to Europe in the last few years, it was bizarre at times. I mean, Paris has always had a lot of tourists, but the majority go home at the end of the season. These were shopping for groceries, etc., in other words, permanent residents. And one ends up haggling for prices sometimes in the shops like in the Middle East...Weird.

The landscape in Germany is gorgeous, including the lovely lake. What region is this? I lived not too far from Stuttgart, near Weil de Stadt. One of the big things on the weekends was of course hiking, there and in the Schwarzwald.

I love cats! The kitten with the cream/marmalade coat is precious...

I think a direct flight is about 13-14 hours, but I can't afford those and depending on your connection it can get quite long.
On my way back to Japan it was 30h if you count getting to the airport in Germany and getting back home from Osaka to my apartment. I was soooooooooooooooooooo dead afterwards x_X
I flew over Dubai that's why!

I'll send you a lj message as for obvious reasons I don't wanna tell here in a public entry where I used to live ;)

They're all so cute. It's so sad that I won't be able to see them anymore now that I'm back in Japan ;o;

Schöne Fotos! =)

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com on August 19th, 2011 08:55 am (UTC)
XD

Noch steht's nicht genau fest, weil es wirklich von der Jobsituation etc. abhängt, aber schon sehr wahrscheinlich irgendwann nächstes Jahr dann o___o;; ...... -___- .... ;___;

It's too bad that I can't have both: Japan and Germany.
I wish I could beam to work to Japan and then back home to Germany XDDD

Actually I was quite disappointed with Tama, but I'll post more about it soon ^-^;

What a scenery it is!!!

Ich weiß!! ;____;
Ich hab ich danach noch einige Male getroffen und noch mehr Fotos geschossen. Die waren so süß, doof und unterhaltsam!! Echt schade, dass ich sie nicht mit nach Japan nehmen konnte ;o;

Hi, C!
It's good to read you again! I haven't been using LJ much lately, so I don't know what I've missed, but I am glad you got to go home and feel the difference! Do you feel Japanese now? Or German still? Remember my friend in Munich who works at the English School there. He may have a job for you when you want to return. Have fun!

Re: Hi, C!
It's a huge difference indeed. It's two different worlds!!
I wish I could beam between the two countries so that I could continue working there, but live in Germany ;P
I don't feel Japanese that much, although my friends say "Oh, this is sooo Japanese." when I do certain things *g*
I don't wanna move to a big city and rather stay in my region. Munich is way to big. It will be difficult to get a good job, but I really realized how precious and beautiful the area is where I used to live and I wanna enjoy that some more once I'm back home.

Nice to hear from you again. I hope you're doing fine as well :)

nice photos! thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to post. :) sorry my comment's late.

are cats generally everywhere in Germany or is that just how it is where you live....? i thought the stray cats being everywhere thing was a uniquely Asian thing. :o

i hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Germany! i really hope that i can go there someday. i'm sure the food is to die for. ;)

Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you're still with me! ^-^
I enjoyed your Singapore photos a lot, too! I definitely wanna go there soon, too :D

It's completely different from here in Asia, though!!! They're not stray cats, they belong to farmers. We have many farmers as I live outside in the countryside, so the cats are just outside hunting mice and birds (I have a photo of that, too XD will come in a future entry, yuck!)
So, it's not everywhere in Germany like that, only in the countryside :)

Thanks a lot :D
The food was way too good. I ate too much, but didn't have enough time to try everything I wanted to and missed so much while in Japan.

Anyways, I'm finally back in hot and humid Japan ^-^; ... I miss the baby cats already :(

"I wanna refresh my traffic rules knowlede a little before I drive for real"

Seems like a recipe for disaster to me... lol... I hope all went well.

Oh and emirates used to be a top ranked airline, so it's no surprise they have all those extras everywhere.
But it's definitely a lot lot nicer than when I was a kid, when the food was bad and you couldn't properly see the movie because the screen was all the way at the end of the aisle.. :P I also miss the time that I was so small that I could actually sleep on the floor in front off my parent's legs... hahahaha... I remember my parents used to envy me for being able to sleep with my legs stretched and they had to sleep in the chair.

[identity profile] chochajin.livejournal.com on August 23rd, 2011 03:52 pm (UTC)
Yes, everything went well.
It doesn't change the fact that I don't like driving very much and especially not the German "Autobah" (highway) where you are allowed to drive as fast as your car can go x___X ....

Wow! You seem to have flight experience from a young age onwards! My first flight was when I was 26 and that was to Japan XDDDD
(Reply) (Parent) (Thread) (Link)
[identity profile] mtassarion.livejournal.com on August 23rd, 2011 04:16 pm (UTC)
Haha.. I'd like to try that some time.. the fastest i ever went in a car while driving was 145 km/h orso in france on my way to spain. I've only experienced higher speeds in a car (on the autobahn in fact) while another was driving.

Yeah I think my first flight was when I was 2 months old or something. So far i've spent 11 or 12 days of my life in the air. I've kept a log of all my flights since I was 4, and I still add an entry with every flight. :) i think flying is fun.

Are you serious?????!!!! Lucky you??!!!!!
When I had my driver's license lessons and I went onto the Autobahn for the first time my teacher was telling me to speed up and I was already dying at around 120km/h but he then stepped on the gas and so we were already at 160km/h ... my brother often goes over 200km/h (x____X) I hate that!!!!!
I personally usually drive around 120-160km/h nowadays, but I rarely ever use the Autobahn as I'm really scared of the speed XDDDD But that's only me, I guess. I have to admit that it's super awesome as it's free and you get super fast from one city to another. Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch faster than here in Japan, for example. I think the fastest I've ever seen a car go here so far was 80km/h or so ... though they are allowed to go a bit faster than that on highways.

Woah!
(Reply) (Parent) (Thread) (Link)
[identity profile] mtassarion.livejournal.com on August 23rd, 2011 09:12 pm (UTC)
I think the highways in the Netherlands are the same as in Japan. Since everything is super crowded around where I live, you're only allowed 100km/h on the highways. In the more rural areas you're allowed 120 and they're talking about raising the limit to 130 but apparently it's only possible on a very few stretches of road outside of rush hour so yeah... :P

I wouldn't mind if the limits were like in Germany.. i.e. no limit :P especially during night time or when the road is empty.
