Matcha ~ my first try !
So, ....I´ve finally bought matcha/macha !!! Oh man, I spent about 55€ on tea and accessories x___X;; (Ha ! This time I´ve looked it up: 1$ = 0,82€ right now XD ~ so I spent 66$ !)
The most expensive was the matcha stuff x___X But I don´t regret buying it ^-^;;
The 茶せん / chasen (bamboo whisk) cost 16€/19$, the clay cup 20€/24$ and the matcha itself 10€/12$ x___X;; (yeah and of course I bought some other green tea, too ^^;;;)

So right now my green tea collection looks like this:

and:

But now to my first try making matcha x__X

At first I was a little bit afraid that it would taste too bitter. But the people at my tea shop told me that this is high quality tea and it tastes more sweet and not bitter.
Then I was afraid that I´m too stupid to make good matcha (also according to what I heard here @ [livejournal.com profile] communitea).

So, ....

The sealing looks funny XD
For those who don´t know, you should keep matcha in your refrigerator after opening !

Well, I did as I was told and used about 3 gram of the green powder. The powder smells kind of ... rubber XD~ I think.
For me it was difficult to portion it properly x__X

Finally I whisked it. That is the most difficult part x___X At first I totally messed up :/
On my second try the tea tasted like hot water ... I think I used too little of the powder.
On my third try it WAS a little bit bitter, but I think that was the best so far :/ ..... BUT there was nearly NO foam !!!
I´ve heard the more foam, the better the tea ! When there is a lot of foam you did it right I guess ;____;
Maaa~ perhaps I´m just too stupid for this ;____;

But I didn´t dislike it. Furthermore matcha is VERY good for your health ! Unlike other teas you don´t throw the tealeaves away, you drink them as dissolved powder !

Jaa, that´s all. Has anyone tips or so for mEh ? .___.

Shiny! Do you by any chance know what your black tin says? I have a couple tins with (I think) that character on them, but my tea guy didn't know what it says, either.

the first two characters are a number:
hachi juu (八十) = 80
I can´t read the other two kanjis :/

*confused* Are we talking about the same tin? I'm referring to the one with the single gold symbol on both lid and container. Maybe it's dark green, rather than black? Or is that character actually more than one?

Thanks!

Ah you´re talking about THAT one, now I see :)
Hn~ I´m not sure if it´s a Chinese or a Japanese character, so I really don´t know what it means :/
But I want to know it, too ^^;

Thanks! And now that I'm home, I've verified that's what mine says, too. :)
